15. I was an investigator for cps and one of us did a home visit and found a dead baby, they had the baby in the bed like it was asleep. You never know what you’re walking in on. Being and probation officer, parole officer, investigator of any sort that’s armed or not is not safe.

23. They give these parole officers wayyyy to much control over one person…that desperation from that control led to this

Completely wrong ,of course , but speaking from being an ex parolee in Maryland , knowing how they operate and the underhanded , blackmailing stuff that they do …ask yourself why was he going alone after being told not to . And this home visit stuff is done before release and most times announced when coming after release. And they are accompanied by a local police officer . And if thats not available theres a Fugitive warrant task force just for P and P . So yes its a tragedy but if he was following the rules it may not have been. Leads me to believe there's a lot more not being said

26. This is so ultimately sad, and beyond baffling as to why any POs work out in the field alone. Police officers work in teams, or at least in conjunction with other officers in a close proximity. His family, friends and colleagues will need prayers and support. I hope the departments provide that to them.

    In office appointments, and unannounced home, employment visits are part of the job they understand know that. Bullet proof vests don’t protect POs in these situations.
