19. I’m a retired cop in Texas and we only conduct an all out search on a person under the age of 12, unless we feel foul play is involved! A report is completed and her name is put into NCIC as Runaway! A Runaway Officer will follow up the next day! 99% they are found unharmed! I’m Florida is similar! This case acted on immediately! I feel the patrolman and his Supervisor felt this was suspicious and I believe they were on to Stern in the first hour or two in the investigation! His body language and him standing back arms crossed, most of the time he tried to be in between something and the officer! He was the last person to see her, he should have been taking center stage! A person not guilty would have wanted to talk to the police first! The mothers behavior was obviously suspicious! She knows she didn’t take Maddie to school but puts herself with Sterns! She obviously was just repeating what Sterns said or told her to say! I believe the mother was very neglectful of Maddie but I am up in the air with her actually being involved with murdering Maddie! She might be able to be charged with Child Endangerment due to allowing her to sleep with Sterns! That’s outrageous! I wish the father would have had that information, he could have taken primary custody of Maddie no problem and made her pay child support! Also Maddie wrote down what was happening to her! Possibly a diary! I’m sure she gave hints to her mother and or friends! Who knows the police have lot more information and evidence that they will not and should not release until court! All your getting is probable cause information

33. One of the most horrible things about a mother failing to protect her children is that it often leads to a generational cycle of abuse. Kids are abused and end up as adults who pursue relationships with people who abuse their children. You're basically condemning generation after generation to the same future
