Detective Mathew Neill of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office attempts to stop a vehicle with no front plate. The driver tries to lose the detective by driving into a gas station. He fails to yield as he exits the gas station parking lot and speeds away onto the highway. Detective Neill attempts to terminate the pursuit just as the driver rear-ends a vehicle and rolls to a stop after hitting the guard rail. The driver then jumps over the center median into oncoming traffic and runs across several lanes of traffic. Detective Neill gives chase and catches the suspect in a drainage ditch. In a frenzy, the suspect calls his girlfriend while Detective Neill tries to get him to comply and drop his cell phone. Once in custody, the suspect admits to having a warrant out for his arrest and is the reason for fleeing the scene. The suspect is arrested for felony evasion.
