In this episode of True Crime Daily: The Podcast Updates: A New Jersey cop who hit a man with his car and then allegedly made several more questionable decisions.

On November 1, 2021, 29-year-old Damian Dymka was on his way home from a Halloween party when he lost his cell phone. He was walking along the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway when, at 3 a.m., Officer Louis Santiago allegedly struck him with his car. Damian died at the scene.

Louis was in the car with his cousin, Albert Guzman, and the two men left the scene and drove to Louis’ parent’s house to talk to Louis’ father, Lieutenant Luis Santiago. The younger Louis Santiago allegedly went back to the scene and put Damian’s body in his car. Lieutenant Santiago then called 911 to report the accident. Officer Santiago allegedly returned the scene again and put Damian’s body back on the Parkway before New Jersey State Police arrived.

On July 15, 2022, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office indicted Officer Santiago on 16 charges, including vehicular homicide, tampering with evidence, hindering prosecution, and more. Lieutenant Santiago was charged with hindering the prosecution and official misconduct.

The three men have been released from custody and are awaiting court appearances.

  1. As a daughter of a victim of hit and run I could imagine the pain his family went through knowing his body was sling from pillar to post after he died….the pain I went through knowing my father was left dead upon impact alone on a dark road at night time kills me to this day

  2. Absolutely horrific and senseless that this "civil servant" takes Damian's body home to his mother. Cats do that…a human being with compassion does not. As you said, Ana, Damian lived his life serving others, and selflessly putting his life on the line during the most dangerous time of the pandemic. I would be outraged and saddened had the victim been a homeless person, or any person really.
Rest in Forever Peace, Damian. I'm sorry that all who love you will have to miss you.
Thank you, Ana and Philip. Justice Matters!

  3. Confusing initially she says that he left the scene to talk to his dad. The description says he left to talk to his dad, but then they talk about him leaving the scene to go talk to his mom and that’s who the charges are against… Is his dad in the clear? I’m confused.

  4. The cop behaved like a little spoiled momma's boy. "Moooom, don't tell dad, I messed up!" "SSSHHH, just put it back where it belongs, nobody will notice anything!"

To damage the reputation of a police family this stupidly…No words…

And you can't tell me there wasn't nepotism re the jurisdiction.

  5. Sadly this world is turning into something that I've never seen befor people that you wash truly never thought that would commit a crime turning into sadly Satan is taking contol of their. This world is full of sin the only one that is going to have the solution really soon to end all this is called Jesus Christ 😊 male the victim's rest in peace

  6. He expects his father to cover up for him because they more than likely always have all is life.
They know he was stupid junk and mowed down Damian. He's entitled and spoiled. That's why he thinks he should not be held accountable.
