1. I spoke with Lyle in 22 and 23. They both are doing amazing things in prison. My dad was very much like Jose minus the sa.. my dad also had money, not a millionaire, but he also was self made business man and ran for Congress in the 80s. That said, I understand why they felt they couldn't just leave. I wanted to run away multiple times but was too scared because my dad knew powerful ppl. Kids weren't believed back then either, like they r tdy. For those questioning why they didn't mention abuse right away, my half-brother molested me, and it took me 2 years to tell my dad because I thought I would get in trouble too. That's the control grip my dad had on me. He passed when I was 14. I didn't cry about it till I was 21. I finally figured out it was because I was glad to be out of his grip. I wanted to kill my dad sometimes. Yea ik that's crazy but when you're conditioned instead of raised, you can raise a sociopath or even a psychopath. It was widely believed back then, that boys or men couldn't be raped! Its 2024 and now we know better. Free them now! 35 yrs is long enough! They def will not reoffend. They deserve time with their wives, and families. PS..men like Jose or my dad only care about power and money. People thought I was spoiled. Absolutely not!

8. I guess perspectives lay in whether or not you've ever been raped before… and a Mom that does not protect her children… IS a participant. I have immense amount of empathy and understanding for these boys, if it is true. I've watched all their interviews, I felt they were telling the truth. And honestly, I'd support time-served, and let them out. I don't agree with the critique of their "shallow" life and clothing/parties… If that's all they'd ever known, what else WOULD they do?? I mean, come on. Glad you're discussing this, but I highly disagree. (*Molested for 5 yrs by a neighbor age 7-12, and gang raped at 12* so I do have a valuable perspective. And it was NOT done by my PARENTS.) I don't support murder, but they have served their time, in my eyes.

9. BS! Being female and if my dad was sexual abusing me. And my mom knew. She should get the same fate. She didnt want to give up that lifestyle either. She didnt want everyone to know what was going on behind closed doors. OMG how embarrassing for her. So, she let her boys suffer. She didnt deserve mercy. F that B. She was suppose to protect her babies from day one. Like a real mother is suppose too.

10. I genuinely believe that Eric and Lyle Menendez were really abused by both parents but in different ways. No one can lie about such abuse as they spoke about it while on trial. They weren’t faking it. The parents didn’t deserve to be killed but I don’t believe Eric and Lyle deserved life in prison. In the first trial, the sex abuse was allowed to be brought in as a defense but in the second trial, it wasn’t allowed. I feel like if it was allowed in the second trial, there’s a chance they would’ve been sentenced to prison but not for life. There would’ve also been a different charge. Although I can see why people think the boys killed their parents for financial gain because not long after their parents died, they went on lavish spending sprees. I think they were in the wrong for doing that. If they didn’t do that, the abuse would’ve been believed especially in the second trial and they wouldn’t have been sentenced to as much time as they were. But I lean more towards the sexual abuse being the motive for the murders and they were in fear of their lives and that’s why they killed them. I’m interested in seeing where the case will go now that there is more evidence to prove that sexual abuse really did happen to the boys and there’s another victim. I hope this means that they could be released since they served their time.

15. Sexual assault for any child is horrific! It does unimaginable damage… mentally and physically. If the other parent is aware and does not try to stop it… then they are just as guilty! They are condoning the abuse of the child! The abuse causes mental illness in some cases… so those grown children may have felt at risk some way. God knows what’s going on mentally in they boys heads! Do the people speaking have kids? Would you let your kids go through this? Or do something about it?

16. In mine opinión the other lawyer is insesitive to think why the Menendez brother that were really young get vindicted after years of abuse by the Father and the mother new for me this parents deserved any kind of death for the years of taking the innocence of the menemdez brothers

19. This is the first time i felt very uncomfortable by the guest on the podcast. Please dont bring him back on. I dont justify killing but there is ZERO empathy from the guest and throughout this entire episode i felt very uncomfortable. It may be choice of words but it sounds as if he has never experience what its liked to be a victim of abuse of SA. I am not saying you need to be a victim, but at least have some compassion and better research on the fact that privaliage has nothing to do with abuse and those brothers were abused by both parents. Compliance is just as bad as abuse.

    I usually love this podcast but overall this entire episode was hard to listen to for the lack of awareness and empathy.

20. Starts off saying the brothers were 'privileged'. What does that have to do with the fact that they were abused. Yeah, they partied after. They were rid of their abuser and the mother who wouldn't protect them.

27. Sounds like these men have never experienced sexual abuse. The parents may have “just been eating ice cream” when they were murdered, but they also abused those boys for YEARS.
