Springfield, Florida — A Springfield police officer was arrested and charged with a felony after he allegedly used excessive force on a resident, Springfield Police and Bay County Sheriff’s officials said during a joint news conference. Former officer Ronnie Nelson had been arrested on a felony official misconduct charge and a misdemeanor battery charge. Nelson has been placed on unpaid leave and is pending termination. The incident was recorded on body-cam footage showing Nelson pulling and deploying a taser on an unarmed man, Solomon Smith, who officers thought had given a fake name to the police.
The incident happened on Business Highway 98 in Springfield, after officers stopped Smith as he was walking alone around midnight on May 29. An investigation into the incident revealed that Smith was stopped without a warrant and had given his correct name. His mother also told police that he has had a developmental disorder since he was a child. It was also found that officer Nelson falsified the police report, saying Smith had tried to throw a punch at the rookie officer on scene. Two other officers that were on the scene told police Smith never tried to throw a punch.

This is an OUTRAGE!!! Since when is a US citizen not allowed to walk down the street at ANY time. We are losing our freedom. Poor Solomon, this makes me sick.
She asked how to spell his first name and then got his last name wrong.
I hope at least one anti-masker who watches this video understands what a "violation of rights" actually is!! THIS is why Kapernick knelt!!
That was painful to watch. He seems like the nicest guy ever. You gotta be fucking evil to do what that police officer did.
Why do people make things so hard on themselves cops have to stop people and investigate u never know wat people are up to
The cop falsified the report tin justify an horrendous assault and kidnapping of a totally innocent man for absolutely no reason. Utterly abhorrent behaviour. Should be in prison.
Guy didn't do anything wrong… At all! Unbelievable behavior.
That was sorry af!God bless Solomon!
Idk who you are and its 12 o'clock at night. That's not probable cause.
They could have subdued him without a taser, an old man. INEPTS AND COWARDS
Im glad this piece of shit is off the job. He is a disgrace to the badge
Area known for drug activity, as in every area of the western world? I've had dealings with scum like this, because I had refused an ambulance they dragged me to hospital, when I refused a blood test, 2 of them threw me against a wall in front of everyone, handcuffed me then threw me in a dark room smaller than my bathroom for 10 hours. Not all cops are bad, but enough to notice. Least in the US you can sue them, try that in the UK you get told to go away.
"Don't do me like that / why you doin me like that" should be on the PoliceActivity bingo card.
Yeah these are the bad ones.
I better make sure EVERY officer in Calhoun County, SC know who I am
Office Ronnie Nelson was arrested. Good for that old fart
These cops need to write the "Terry vs Ohio" law 100 times. SMH
And the police wonder why so many people hate them – the entire police force needs to be retrained and have the bad ones weeded out 😔
"it's 12 at night and we don't recognize you" is he in a sun down town?
Why was only one cop fired/charged?
That´s bad cop, deserve to be arrested, prosecuted and send to jail.I hope he will be molested in jail, make him regret those non-human acting.
Wtf
I was put in jail Four no reson back in 2002 guys here in st augustine but they dropped them all
I know a cople if cops here in st augustine area guys that does do this to people
This is messed up. I feel bad for the guy. One of the few videos where I feel the cop is in the wrong.
No crime was committed so cops should not be there. It’s not illegal for the cops to not know who you are.
Apparently, "It's 12:00 at night" is a crime. They lacked probable cause to even engage this guy. Hopefully that officer never ears a badge again.
He seems about as mentally competent as any other subject of these videos. Maybe even more so.
Cops going around causing problems where there are none. Harassing people for walking down the street.
“I have to know you†gtfoh bih
Karen in police uniform.
