Millionaire convicted of murdering close friend, accused of killing wife and neighbor – Everything Law and Order Blog

In this episode of True Crime Daily: The Podcast Updates: Robert Durst was a millionaire real estate mogul, but controversy seemed to follow him wherever he went. His wife Kathie disappeared in 1982, and she was never seen or heard from again. Eighteen years later, in 2000, he shot and killed his close friend, Susan Berman. The next year, he allegedly gunned down his neighbor in Galveston, Texas.

He remained on the run for several years until his ruse came to an end in 2015 when he admitted while on a hot mic for the docuseries “The Jinx” that he committed murder. He was arrested in New Orleans in 2015 and charged with Susan Berman’s death.

He went to trial in Los Angeles in May 2021, though the trial faced delay after delay. He was convicted in September 2021 of first-degree murder and later sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In January 2022, just a few months after his conviction and sentencing, Durst died after going into cardiac arrest.

Let’s look back at the episode where Alison Triessl and I discuss Durst’s case and sentencing.

  1. I don't think he knows where Kathy is. Someone took care of her body so well that was not discovered and that one was not him.
We see how sloppy job he does at killing and covering his traces since that long term friend got killed. I believe she took the secret to her grave, she disposed of her body.

  2. I stopped the video at 2:45, bcz I heard Ana saying that this monster was privileged and got away for so many years bcz he had money. That's a lie. We've seen
hundreds upon hundreds of cases, on this program, on many many TV murder cases, and many many other You Tubers' similar programs, that hundreds of non privileged serial killers were poor as dirt. They were just lucky not to get caught.

  3. What is the point of even having jury trials if people are that stupid it would be better for just a single judge and staff to make these rulings or let’s get artificial intelligence going because this is unacceptable and it’s happening all over the place

  4. His hubris was his downfall. He may not sit in a jail cell again in this life, but I’m pretty sure accountability awaits him after this life. Only God knows for sure!
I pray for the families to find comfort & justice for all of their daughters!🙏🏻
All his money & prestige could not save him from himself! #How ironic! #Poetic Justice!

  5. He just wanted sympathy during the trial. He hoped people would let him off the hook. I live down here around Galveston, and we all hoped that he would finally have to pay for his crimes.

  6. Durst was pure evil! And his life was full of intrigues. If he hadn't wanted to be centre of attention, or thought he was so smart and not attended the interview, he would have still been a free man. Karma!

  7. Karma to the neighbor who help the killer. The soul of the dead wife hunting them both.may the killer and the bad me neighbor rest in hell

  8. #Anna, you both have fallen into the trap!
Y'all are looking for logic & reason in Durst's behaviors & actions, when he's simply a deranged serial killer. Period!
You see and outline his deranged behaviours, and still ascribe normal-people motivations to his murders, when even they make no sense in a normal person's perspective! No telling how many unsolved's can be laid at this Nutburger's feet!

  9. God! It's almost incredible that a 1% actually got punished!
I recall the trial in Texas where he killed his tenant/neighbor, (he bought the building) cut off the man's head, threw it in a river, but got off!
He was convicted of desecrating a corpse in that case, but that's all.🤯
    So Happy Now!☺️
