In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Lindsey Baum was less than two weeks shy of her 11th birthday when she disappeared while walking home from her friend’s house on June 26, 2009. Her mother called 911, which kicked off an extensive search for the little girl.
Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified 40 persons of interest, but no arrests were ever made.
A major break in the case occurred in 2017 when some hunters discovered a piece of a skull in a remote area of eastern Washington, and in May 2018, the remains were positively identified as Lindsey.
Lindsey’s family and the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office continue to search for answers regarding her disappearance and death. The FBI is even offering up to $15,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons connected to the crime.
Let’s look back at the case of a young girl whose short walk home turned into a lifetime of grieving and sadness for her family.
Children should never walk alone
Tim Hartman was obviously trying to be seen by witnesses in the store video. He intentionally placed something between his legs and then conveniently dropped it to pick it up and turn around and acknowledge the girls behind him. He initially said he didn't know Lindsey but she used to go into his jewelry shop quite often.

Tim Hartman did it. His ambulance is still in his driveway on google maps. She wouldn’t have accepted a ride from a stranger but maybe she would have from her neighbor in an ambulance .
I wonder if she into something nobody knew about, probably why she said she had a bad feeling something was gonna happen. A cry for help maybe? Anyways, letting children walk alone is crazy, even in daylight. You never know who’s watching👀
My husband and I were the caretakers of Straddiline ORV Park in McCleary at the time she went missing. This is the saddest, scariest thing that we have ever been in close proximity to that i know of, to date! This case has bugged me since day 1! At the time we had 2 young children and my heart broke for this child and her mother, I couldn't imagine! My husband was asked to lead a team of law enforcement through our area of the Capitol Forest on the bike and quad trails. He said he had such mixed emotions riding through the forest. What was always a great ride in the beautiful forested mountains that he knew like the back of his hand, was ominous and creepy that day! He was praying they would find this young girl and bring her home if she was in the forest, but on the other hand he said he was also praying he didn't come across a scene he couldn't unsee!
Years have passed and time has pushed the memories of the summer of '09 to the back of my mind, but it always stuck with me nd drove me nuts that there was no conclusion for so long. For so long this mother and brother had to wonder what happened, that breaks my heart all over again. This was and is a very sad case that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

I will never understand this day and hour why so many parents let young children go off alone. Its absolutely too dangerous. I never let my children go anywhere alone. So many of these cases could gave been prevented. She mentions about the girl and a fruend being in the park alone and a man walking in. This just makes me livid.

My daughter is 16 and I never leave her walk alone, go out alone, etc. Let alone 10 years old

I think it's crazy that they expose people who were questioned and not arrested. The man has a business. If he is arrested, then that's different. My prayers to the family and friends! I pray it is solved.

Probably somebody she knew that did the killer sooo sad when a child can't walk home. They no place safe in this world. Small towns of larger city it doesn't matter in 2day world people gotta realize that.

I'm sorry to say that (because I love your country) but there is something wrong with your society. Just too many cases involving young children as victims. The law must be changed otherwise it'll happen again and again and again. Any sexual act against a child under a certain age, say 12 years old, should be punished by a life sentence. Once you send the culprit behind the bars for life they won't be able to hurt any other child again. You must protect your children. It's a very serious matter. If you can protect your money then do something to protect the most vulnerable. I'm really appalled when something happens to this or to that child. It's got to change.

We have to listen!!! 9 out of 10x's a person, pointedly kids KNOW when things feel off. We raised our daughter in a wonderful small town, and my grandchildren are being raised there today. When my daughter was 10 we got a nice house, great lil neighborhood. She would take the school bus for 1st time. She was the ONLY child at that stop and it was 2 houses down. I was nervous so I watched her from frt yard with car keys in hand. Day 1 she said Mom, I don't like that guy who lives in house at my bus stop. I said Why? When he brought out trash he just said Hi, but it was the WAY he said Hi. I kinda didn't think much of it. Next day we repeat this routine. When she got home on day 2 she said I"M NOT TAKING THE BUS AGAIN!! I said why? She said Mom, I could FEEL him watching me, and I think I was only safe because he could see you watching. So I said ok I will drive you from now on. Flash forward a few weeks later, my daughter call's me from a friends house flipping out….Mommy, Heather & I researched sex offenders on the Island, the man in that house sexually assaulted a girl under 16 just over 9yrs ago!! I was upset we had not been informed, and man did I cry. So I called Sex crimes unit in town and told them daughters story. I said look I think you need to keep an eye on him, he's going to do it again, these girls can feel it and they knew NOTHING of his past. The Det in charge ( a woman) got an attitude and said…Mrs___ his parole up in 2 months, he's done nothing wrong. Her attitude was mind your business?! Less then a week later Sheriff's cars everywhere and chopper in the sky, local media in route. He snatched a 14yr old walking home, and took her into woods, tried to rape her. She got away (Thank God). I went insane and told the Deputies I can't WAIT for the news media to hear MY STORY!!! Very quickly that female Det, and other deputies were all over me. PLEASE Mrs___ we promise he's going away for at least 20 plus yrs, give us a few days before you say anything. I agreed. They kept that promise. He mad bail in an hour, but when he pulled into driveway Deputies were waiting and arrested him again on other charges ( Done on purpose, so wife would have no way of bailing him a 2nd time). That was over 20yrs ago and he's still in prison.
So was this just "click bait" or did they find Lindsay's remains???
40 years ago children walking home after dark was a regular thing. Locked doors were not needed. Crime was much lower. The worst thing that would happen was your bike getting stolen. And most times, you'd find it somewhere..
God love her. Her pain reaches you and if you have a daughter, granddaughter or even a son you understand her pain.
I lost a little sympathy for the mother when she spoke about she and her 10 y.o. watching the film, Taken, together. THAT film is basically a 'kill-a-thon' with dozens of graphic killing by gunshots and knives. No sane mother should allow a 10 y.o. child to watch that violent crap.
I'll never forget my daughter and her friend hiding from me at the mall, I was frantically searching stores we already shopped in etc..,and then I find them hiding from me, they thought it would be funny to hide from me all the while I'm literally having a heart attack and I just ran into the restroom and they were gone. I was furious when I found them hiding under clothes racks and I said that's it we are done shopping, and I took them home after I explained to both of them how dangerous and scary that was and I never took 2 again to the mall.

They could of picked her up if not let her stay their till they could get her. I always picked my child if not the other parents would. Parents need to get up and go walk with them and make sure they get to their friends house. Eight blocks is far for her to walk. 😢

If any stranger approaches her, it should be someone concerned for her safety, but every town has their own devils. Yes it is sad and more tragic that this could have been prevented, but this happens too often more than I wished. Just unfortunate timing and was only a matter of time judging based off how many instances she's been in the streets alone.
