Teen convicted of 8-year-old girl’s murder – Everything Law and Order Blog

In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: The dreadful kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Maddy Middleton.

On July 26, 2015, at around 4:15 p.m. Maddy hopped on her Razor scooter and was never seen again. Her parents and neighbors reported the 8-year-old girl missing and searched everywhere for her.

A little over 24 hours after she went missing, Santa Cruz Police found Maddy’s body in a recycling bin at the art colony where Maddy and her mom lived. Maddy had been raped, strangled, and stabbed to death.

Fifteen-year-old Adrian Gonzalez also lived in the area, and he quickly became a suspect in Maddy’s disappearance and murder. He was arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault. Prosecutors charged him as an adult, and he pleaded not guilty.

His case, however, got transferred back down to juvenile court because of a California Supreme Court ruling that said no one under the age of 16 could be tried as an adult. In April 2021, he pleaded guilty in juvenile court to all the charges against him.

He will be eligible for release in 2024, but officials can file petitions to keep him behind bars.

Let’s look back at the terrible murder of a young girl who was never able to reach her full potential or achieve her dreams.

  1. if he ever appears near me I promise you, he will be on a milk carton, plenty of old forgotten grave yards in the woods where even if he were dug up, nobody would even think twice about it, nor even imagine any reason for calling the police, simply fill in the grave and move on. so please tell him I've got a place for rent when he gets released since it's obvious little girls lives mean nothing to our courts, which shouldn't be a surprise concidering they are so sick they haven't the moral fortitude to stand up for anything that's right, why else do they continue the drug war for example?

  2. If they let that monster out in 2024 he will just kill again. How would 10 years in prison fix anything about him? Raping your dog and luring an 8 year old to her rape/strangulation with Ice cream is some deep seated psychopathic behavior.
He probably does not even think of others as living creatures, just objects to be raped and killed. Good thing he was too stupid to get away with it, but now as an adult he is a lot more dangerous.

  3. He’s should get the death penalty a life for a life! It’s not fair!! He killed an innocent young beautiful that had her whole life ahead of her! It’s not right he serves a few years and gets out!!! He will do it again!!! They can’t let him out!!!!!
    RIP maddy 😢💐💐💐💐💐💐💐❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😓

  4. He's going to be only 24 when he's released plenty of years to reoffend. I believe in protecting minors in our court systems.

But charges as heinous as rape and murder of a child should be the exception.

  5. Only In the US can you get away with murder because you’re too young for punishment but not too young to commit murder. Only in the US can you murder your 3 kids and tell the court you’re crazy and get away with it

  6. Unfortunately there are so many attention seekers will melodramatically claim those kind of dark thoughts disingenuously. So those who are truly struggling and desperately in need of help fall by the wayside and are dismissed as just another attention seeking drama queen. Sad.

  7. One huge problem with a law like this, teens that young that know that will use it to their advantage, espacally if they already have that urge. All they are doing by keeping that law on the books is putting the public at risk. He will do this agian when he gets out. Feels like at times there is no true justice in this world.

  8. This 15 year old should NEVER be allowed to be in the public ever again. If they release him, this horrible crime will most likely be repeated. This law in California should be overturned, instead we're dealing with overturning abortion and discrimination against someone's sexuality. Sometimes I wonder if I live in the fu**ing twilight zone with this extremely corrupt Supreme Court. You supposedly want to protect unborn babies, but not the children that are already here and being assaulted and murdered? Make it make sense.
    RIP Maddy 😞
