In this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: Sheila von Wiese-Mack and her daughter Heather Mack traveled to Bali on a vacation to mend their broken relationship. They stayed in a top hotel with all the best amenities. Unfortunately for Sharon, there would be no conflict resolution on this trip.

Heather’s boyfriend at the time, Tommy Schaefer, showed up in Bali, much to Sheila’s dismay. But before she had much of a chance to object, Sheila was beaten to death and stuffed inside a suitcase. Heather and Tommy put the suitcase in a taxi, then went in a different direction.

Tommy and Heather were both convicted of murder in Indonesia. Tommy was sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Heather 10 years, but she only served seven. Tommy is still in custody abroad.

On November 3, 2021, Heather was deported back to the U.S. and was arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on charges of conspiracy to kill in a foreign country, conspiracy to commit foreign murder of a U.S. National, and obstruction. Tommy’s cousin pleaded guilty in 2016 for helping them strategize how to kill Sheila.

Mack pleaded not guilty to the charges in the U.S., and her trial is scheduled to begin July 31, 2023. She was also embroiled in a custody battle regarding her daughter, to whom she gave birth to while in prison.

Let’s take a look back at the gruesome crime that became a media sensation in all corners of the world.

  1. “I took her husband away from her” talking about your DAD lets me know how she thinks. She thought it was cool that her dad hit her so she took it out on her. This whole family was terrible. The mother father and daughter.

  2. Looking at those pictures of Heather and Sheila at Bali makes me so sad. The fact that Sheila didn’t know what was coming and Heather did while on the trip crushes me. I just don’t know how anyone can do this to their own parent.

  3. This girl had everything anyone could’ve wanted. Beauty, love, a nice life, a mother who loved her. She wouldn’t have even had to delete her mother for the money, bc I’m sure her mother would’ve just given it to her. Her baby would’ve been living a good life too. It baffles me when ppl delete someone for money or other gain when literally they’ll get caught and lose EVERYTHING. Never even getting to enjoy the money.

  4. 86 police report, come on now you all knew something was wrong in that house hold. And now everyone is blaming Heather like she wasnt constantly asking for help. Everyone has an option on how much time she should get here in the USA. Where was you when she needed your help.

  5. also if the mother knew before the evening that heather was pregnant, maybe it was the first time they spoke openly about it, face to face? also there are always 2 perspectives. in the interview for heather does not seem to lie. what means "i am told"? who told the mother?

  6. In Indonesia they were found guilty of murder. Her boyfriend got 18 years in prison and she got 10. They are both equally guilty. Its crazy how women get less prison time than a man for committing the exact same crime as a man. And the same thing happens in the United States

  7. In the end Heather is going to lose her daughter, be in an American prison for the rest or most of her life and the party is over!!! I hope her daughter thrives despite her upbringing…
