On the second day of the trial for the murder of Alexis Avery, witness Scott Burns took the stand where he stated that he had been with Avery before she was murdered by her on and off again boyfriend, Blake Scanlon. Burns recalls being at a bar with Avery, where they flirted and kissed before she had expressed nervousness about Scanlon showing up, as he was able to track her phone’s location. Scanlon is being charged with first-degree murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Two minutes 30 sec. No traffic from bars until AFTER 1:40 am i lived in westfield ALL my life, no bar or turnpike traffic in westfield after midnight. Streets are empty. 2.2 minutes of arguing if I had to guess…how she wanted scott, not blake…created so much unneeded drama.

Everyone is saying why did she go back with Blake? Maybe because she just broke up with him that day. I don't know maybe because they live together and created a life together?
Like thats not how that works. If she wanted to do that she should have never moved in with. You can't just be sleeping with people and then going back to your house where you share with your partner and your kid. Violence is definitely a foot…

It's 1st degree 20 plus stab wounds is proof of that. I agree the crime of passion would have been best argued when he opened the truck door not minutes or hours later. And even if she was cheating that's no excuse and what makes this crime incredibly horrendous is sitting with her murdered corpse for a day and a half. For that alone it should be life without parole

I feel like the defense did terrible. They didn’t present any evidence that he was severely intoxicated or that he was mentally unstable. Maybe one of the worst defenses I’ve watched.
