On November 29, 2019, shortly after 9 PM, Modesto Police Officers responded to the Motel 6 located at 1920 West Orangeburg Avenue in Northwest Modesto to assist a bail bondsman with taking a wanted subject into custody. The wanted subject was identified as 54-year-old Raymond Lee of Modesto. Lee had outstanding felony warrants. During the contact at the hotel room, Lee brandished a weapon towards officers. Two officers fired their weapons, striking Lee, who died at the scene from his injuries. It was later discovered that Lee’s weapon was a BB gun.

The officers involved in this shooting have been identified as Officer Jeffrey Brandon, who has been with the department for three years and Officer Cameron Irinaga, a one-year veteran of the department. Both officers were not injured and have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure for all officer involved shootings. Three separate and comprehensive investigations are initiated when our officers are involved in a critical incident such as this. The Modesto Police Department is conducting both a criminal and administrative investigation and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office is conducting their own independent review of this incident.

  1. Imagine being so sure that cops will shoot you when you threaten them that you can plan your suicide with this disturbing fact.

  2. Ok boys and girls, lets just take a moment to look at this beginning video…ya see how that cop is pointing his gun? Ya see the OTHER cop right across from him? Now lets say the bad man comes out of the door with a gun or knife in his hand. What do you think might happen to the cop facing the other cop? That's right boys and girls, it would be another racist killing by another white cop. Except this time, it would be another white cop killed by another racist white cop. Those cops need some serious tactical training.

  3. See these are the type of people that should get a vasectomy . so you have 3 police officers pointing 3 guns at you and you reach under the the mattress to pull out a BB gun . just process that for a minute . mental mental

  4. Anyone else notice the cop in the middle almost shot his partner on the right. Left a bullet hole in the door frame where his partner was standing. 😳

  5. Right at the beginning an accidental discharge would have had tragic consequences. I think he should be more careful where he's pointing his firearm.

  6. This has to be suicide by cop. He knew they were at the door. He could've grabbed the bb gun then and hid in the bathroom. Instead he chose to draw when the officers had the drop on him. Looks/sounds like he'd rather die than go to jail.

  7. I’m still stuck at 0:05 when cop ‘A’ has loaded firearm muzzle pointing straight across at cop ‘B’. 🤔 🤷‍♂️ Then waltzing right in front of 4 foot square window. These things give me chills like watching a drunk reaching out to grab that high tension power line. Maybe they knew something I don’t know but it seems they could have ambushed easily and killed.

  8. Imagine being in the next room having been up for five days smoking meth; malnourished, dehydrated, and sleep deprived, hearing this go down next door so to avoid the swat team you know is out there and after you, you decide to escape by flushing yourself down the toilet. Only to find out that they were there for someone else and you've been standing in the toilet bowl in an acute state of panic all night for no reason. I think we've all been there or can at least relate.
