LAPD Sgt. Takes Breathalyzer at DUI Checkpoint – Everything Law and Order Blog

I have asked many police officers to take this blood alcohol breathalyzer test. This is the only cop who has agreed to take it.

  1. I think every police officer should have to submit to a breathalyzer before every shift……and random unannounced drug tests periodically.   There should also be random, unannounced drug dog searches of their police station lockers and cars.   Its all about safety and following the law.

  2. So, since I've never been through a checkpoint, I have a quick question. If I do somehow get stopped at one, can I go straight to the breathalyzer? I mean, can I skip any and all field sobriety tests, and just skip directly to blowing in the tube? I don't drink, so I'm not worried about failing sobriety tests, but I'd rather not waste an officer's time, or my own. I'm not hesitant to give my name, either, as I know there is paperwork involved for every driver who is processed through the stop. I would like to know if there is precedent for what I'm asking.
I would definitely be polite in asking.

  3. Damn Katman. That was your chance to ask him if the breathalyzers are accurate. I do not believe the field tests are accurate as many criminal defense attorneys have their accuracy thrown out or the legitimately of the results questioned. Even something as simple as the current barometer reading can make a questionable difference.

  4. Hey, ONS.
What new video app, do you you suggest for live video since, Bambuser will be leaving?
Have a very Safe, New Year!👍🎇

  5. Well done Onus..That sergeant should be a Leiutennant at least and if he's helping with training the standards will only go up.
Next time you see him say a subscriber from New Zealand is impressed with his attitudes and manner of dealing and explaining policy and law.
If more were like him guy's like you would soon be finding that the U.S.P.S. was a better bet for an audit..

  6. He seems ok for a LEO (maybe he's one of the so called good cops) but i wonder what he would of said if it came back negative or over the legal limit, your device is faulty,to which Katman could of asked him to do a blood test down the station or hospital to be safer. 😉 only playing here.

Happy New Year to you and yours Katman, from the UK.

  7. He said "if they actually work" as if something recently caused him to doubt their effectiveness? Like maybe he's drunk here and it registered 0.00

  8. This is a cop that should speak up about bad cops. Because, as we all know, it's the bad cops that get the good ones killed.

  9. If we could have more professional , friendly, non aggressive officers like this 👮🏻‍♂️ it would be a different world 🌎✌🏽
