Ansonia, Connecticut — On January 2, 2020 at 7:35 pm A female went to the Ansonia Police department to reported that her boyfriend, Michael Anthony Gregory, age 30 of Bridgeport, who had become physically aggressive, was at the residence in violation of a full no contact protective order.
Officers went to 81 Myrtle Avenue to speak to the male and to take him into custody for violation of a Protective Order. The Protective Order was issued on November 18, 2019 following a November 16 Domestic Violence Arrest with the same female.
When officer made contact with the suspect at the residence the suspect told them that ” if you want to arrest me you will have to shoot me” holding a kitchen knife.
After officer kicked- open the room where the suspect went, he got out of the room advancing toward the officers repeating the “shoot me, I’m ready” officer shot at him at least 3 shots after taser deployed failed.
Officers were then able to disarm the male, rendered immediate medical assistance and Ansonia Rescue and Medical Service transported the male to Griffin Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

These cops clearly didn’t want to do this and it really sucks that they have to shoot someone so low on their luck that they think in their minds that there’s no alternative than to die or be killed and they for lack of better or more sensitive term “selfishly†make a police officer take their lives for them. Leaving it on the minds of the police officers who were just there to help. Now the police officers have to live with that and the man is dead not knowing what he had caused. A much bigger wave than a ripple effect.

See this is where they should have backed off as he was alone and a threat to no one. They should have called for a crisis counselor and talked him into compliance.
The cops were aggressively confronting him and this completely exasperated the situation.
Every now and then society has to give itself an enema getting rid of the bad. No officers were injured and Michael will not be down for breakfast.

From what I seen the officers risked their life by putting lethal away and only using non-lethal. Both should have been kept out because there was no telling what the suspect may have came out the door with.
