Chicago, Illinois — The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released police body camera footage showing moments that lead up to a fatal confrontation with a Melrose Park man in Lakeview early Sunday morning of last month. Mariano Ocon, 30, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and shots fired by Chicago police after running from a traffic stop in the 6000 block of West Wellington, Belmont Cragin neighborhood, Northwest Side, on January 2, 2020.
