El Cajon, California — El Cajon Police Department released body camera footage related to an officer-involved shooting of a car theft suspect, Keith Crenshaw, 21. On 02/12/2020 Officers from the El Cajon Police Department received information from an out-of-state law enforcement agency that a stolen vehicle from their jurisdiction was within the City of El Cajon. The stolen vehicle was described as a tan 2008 Kia Amanti sedan. The reporting agency directed officers to where the vehicle was located. ECPD Officers located the stolen vehicle in the 500 block of South Johnson parked on the side of the road. The officers confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

As the officers coordinated their approach to the vehicle, they discovered an adult male asleep in the driver’s seat. As they planned their approach to arrest the suspect and prevent his escape, he woke up. The officers identified themselves as police officers and immediately began giving repeated commands for the suspect to show them his hands. The suspect refused to show his hands and repeatedly reached under his clothing and into his waistband.

The suspect continued to ignore the officer’s commands and stated something similar to “Shoot me before I do it!” while reaching into his waistband. Believing the suspect was armed, one of the officers on scene fired two rounds, striking the suspect at least one time in the torso. The suspect continued to disobey the officer’s commands by refusing to show his hands. He told the officers, “Kill me please”. The suspect ultimately showed his hands, was removed from the vehicle, and was immediately given first aid until medics arrived. Medics quickly responded and the suspect was immediately transported and is being treated at a local hospital.

No one else was injured during this incident and there are no outstanding suspects in this case. The suspect has been taken into custody for Auto Theft, a felony, and will be booked into jail once released from the hospital. No firearms were located in the suspect’s possession or in the stolen car.

  1. I feel for this dude…. Ok he nicked a car, wasnt hurting anyone but in a world of pain himself and then eats lead. Whats just as sad is the lack of compassion and and venom shown by half of the keyboard warriors here!

  2. I wish the real news media would stop yelling racism every time a black man is shot and play about 16 of these clips where the black person is running at the cops, with a weapon, yelling shoot me!! Of course they won't, it doesn't fit their racist narrative.

  3. Black people: "WhY do cops be shooting black people so much!?!?"
    Also black people: "Shoot me!!"
    Hmmmmm….

  4. If you steal a vehicle make sure its at least worth it🤣 Cant believe it actually got that far without blowing up

  5. dirty fucking scum racist cops. they didn't have to shoot him. if he was white he would not have been shot. they would have bought him hamburgers and given him beer. defund the mo-fo-po's

  6. I'm thinking this video is fake.
    Reason?
Cause there is no black lady screaming hysterically saying he's a good man. Never hurt anyone. Always helping others and the best one is, "he didn't do anything".
Also want to point out that the lady officer needs to wake the hell up. She was standing directly across from the officer who had his weapon drawn. She's fiddling with a busted door handle thinking she's doing something.
"The handles broke, then repeats door handles broke"
Officer with weapon drawn had to tell her to move.
In training or not, ya got to do better than that 👍👍

  7. …meanwhile other suspects of similar ethnicity of the police….says "kill me or I'll kill you" etc….wields gun in hand defiantly waving it around, does everything to get shot but grab the back of the officers' heads and rub the gun around the officers' lips😅…and still doesn't get shot yet …(until he raises the weapon to himself)…man what a biased, unbalanced, twisted, wacky time we live in…lolz!😆
