On January 18, 2016, Daniel Leetin Shaver of Granbury, Texas was fatally shot by police officer Philip Brailsford in the hallway of a La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in Mesa, Arizona. Police were responding to a report that a rifle had been pointed out the window of Shaver’s hotel room.

After the shooting, the rifle, which remained in the room, was determined to be a pellet gun. Following an investigation, Brailsford was charged with second-degree murder and a lesser manslaughter charge and found not guilty by a jury.Prosecutors argued the shooting was unjustified.] In March 2018, it became known that the United States Department of Justice had reopened the case and was looking into a possible civil rights violation by Brailsford. Brailsford was reinstated to the Mesa Police Department in August 2018, then over a month later was granted retirement on medical grounds, as well as a pension of $2,500 per month. Brailsford’s lawyer has said that Brailsford suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder due to his shooting of Shaver and the resultant criminal trial.

  1. If ever you want to help Laney Sweet, the wife, and widow of Daniel Shaver. For the last four years, she have put up a continuous fight for justice for her husband. https://www.gofundme.com/f/relentlessjustice?fbclid=IwAR1h3xxXdzCsi4nKuxdcFzJn2BhRmEk4k7YAwiKhpZqX-LwH4dD3wrlDkf0

Report say that Shaver's blood-alcohol content in different areas of his body was 0.27% and 0.29%

    * 0.2 – 0.29: The individual may lose consciousness at this stage. Reasoning with a person at this level can be difficult because their ability to understand has diminished substantially. It is common for people at this level of intoxication to experience a blackout.

Here are some effects at 0.27% and 0.29% from different site I found:

0.20-0.29%: Stupor, confusion, feeling dazed, and disorientation are common. Standing and walking may require help, as balance and muscle control will have deteriorated significantly. Sensations of pain will change, so if you fall and seriously hurt yourself, you may not notice, and you are less likely to do anything about it. Nausea and vomiting are likely to occur, and the gag reflex will be impaired, which could cause choking or aspirating on vomit. Blackouts begin at this BAC, so you may participate in events that you don’t remember.

0.20 BAC Out of it. Confused. Dizzy. Requires help to stand or walk. If injured may not feel the pain. Nausea and vomiting. The gag reflex is impaired and you can choke if you do vomit. Blackouts are likely.

0.25 BAC All mental, physical and sensory functions are severely impaired. Near total loss of motor function control. Increased risk of asphyxiation from choking on vomit and of seriously injuring yourself by falls or other accidents.

0.30 – 0.40 BAC Extremely life threatening. You have little comprehension of where you are. You may pass out suddenly and be difficult to awaken. Complete unconsciousness. Coma is possible. This is the level of surgical anesthesia. Death may occur.

  2. RIP Daniel! My heart goes out for you laney and your children ❤💐 shame on Langley, specially on brailsford who will "win" so much money! 😤 . From France 🇫🇷

  3. It's not right but it looked like the guy was reaching for a gun he acted like countless shooters on YouTube police shooting videos he did things all the way through that shooters do. The hands behind back the reach back while crawling. To understand you have to watch what cops go through it should be mandatory for anyone prosecuting police

  4. Straight up murder fro a bad cop with little man syndrome. Sad. Cop is a Narc looking to shoot someone. Very very sad, the cop enjoyed seeing him cry. Fed his ego. As a former Green Beret this hurts my heart and makes me think how do guys like this make it on the force. Then the engraving on his gun!! What really!!! God bless this family

  5. I dont understand… The criminal police officer Brailsford, who killed this poor guy, instead of being jailed for life, was acquitted and received a bonus of 31 millions dollars. What's wrong with the american justice ????????? Seriously ???????

  6. This trial was a shame. We saw that this young Brailsford killed intentionly this poor Shaver. That was a pure murder. He should have been jailed for all his life and he was acquitted. What a fking shame !

  7. He shouldn’t have reached behind him . They asked him not to put his hands back there. It’s a sad case all around but the officers did what was necessary.

  8. I don't understand how a guy can crawl on the ground with his legs crossed and hands in the air, stupid instructions from a bunch of cowards. Serve and protect who? 2 people need to go to jail for this crime.

  9. It's so sad that this happens for miscommunication for that police officer being prepotent. I know you guys have the hardest job but man this is sad.

  10. Murdered. Plain and simple. Where is the 27 million for this mans family? Why wasn’t this plastered all over msn? Oh wait that wouldn’t be white would it? So tragic

  11. All involved "Officers" need to be in jail. It's unbelievable how they get away with a literally fucking execution that also got filmed.

I really thank Officers who do their job right and make sure the public is safe.
But this just fills me with hate towards these "Officers" that just don't know what they are doing. It's like they just wanted to shoot him at any cost.

This is my own point of view for this case.

Stay safe and I hope you never have to deal with these "Officers" because who knows, maybe if you walk down the road you try to get a "tactical advantage point".

Edit: I recently stumbled across this Case again and now I think I have to write this because it still sits with me and it just fills me with hate towards these "Officers" who literally executed a crying man who was done with his nerves and was doomed from the beginning of this ridiculous instructions.

  12. Halfway through the video you hear a child crying and calling out for her dad over a montage of pictures showing Shaver's wounds from the gunshots. I am not sure whether it's Shaver's own daughter that is calling out to him. But my heart skipped a beat and I couldn't help but cry for few minutes. I don't have a child of my own but I went downstairs and hugged and kissed my niece who's less than 4. It took me a while to get back to this doc and watch the rest of it. I am a man in my late 30's but I am so broken watching this. Normally I support law enforcement but this was clearly uncalled for. I hope Shaver and his family gets the justice they deserve.

  13. Imagine 6 thugs fully armed yelling expletives and different commands at you, your intoxicated and can't brace yourself, have to crawl out on your knees. This is ridiculous…coward police, So cringe these cops trying make themselves sound good with all the BS stuff they did earlier in their career
