The purpose of Sheepdogs is not to protect sheep, rather it is to allow a Shepard to efficiently manage their flock. But more pertinently is the reason why neolithic humans 12,000 years ago domesticated the Sheep in the first place. It has little to do with the fundamental altruism of Shepards, rather you'd find the answer to said question in a rack of wool sweaters and in an order of Lamb Vindaloo.
Calling a Police Officer a Sheepdog is frankly an Insult.

I understand the terminology being a protector, a motivational tool for officers etc..I understand, that's all well and good. But I do take offense, because I'm not a sheep or a member of a flock whose actions are to be controlled by the dogs. I also dislike being berated as a civilian, We are Citizens who are not powerless, we have rights and a voice. Being guarded by sheep dogs reduces the Citizen to nothing more than a dumb herd animal that obeys its master. I might be a bit sensitive on this matter, I do live in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia (PRK) so if I seem to over react a bit its nothing personal. I think Mike and and the Doughnut Crew are alright.

One of the most popular police trainers in the United States
is Dave Grossman. He teaches a seminar called, "Killology." In his
seminar he tells cops that there are only two kinds of citizens: Sheep or
Wolves. There are so many things wrong with this line of thinking. Besides
teaching cops to see people as animals, not as people, he is also teaching them
that if a person does not act like a sheep, they must be a wolf and, according
to Grossman, wolves must die. It is disgusting and degrading for the government
to see its citizens in such a way. Also, we need not wonder why the police
target African Americans. Because even if an African American falls into the
"sheep" category, they are seen as "black sheep." This then
causes a double bind for African Americans when dealing with law enforcement.

Growing up I had heard every other negative term that is used for cops , pigs, fuzz, flatfoot, dick, etc. Sheepdog? Not until a few years ago.

How cops became known as thugs, liars and thieves? Because police are the filth of humanity that will lie, cheat, steal, brutalize whenever it serves their purpose. I just saw Mike's video where he said the Daniel Shaver murder was justified.
