Roxboro, North Carolina — The Person County district attorney released dash camera footage of an officer-involved shooting on July 24, that left a 45-year-old man dead. The man fatally shot by a Roxboro police officer appears to have pointed a gun at the officer, dash-camera footage from the officer’s car shows. On Friday, July 24, David Brooks Jr. was shot once in the chest by Roxboro police responded to a 911 call reporting an armed man, officials said. In the video, an officer stops his car and turns on his blue lights. Brooks appears to raise a gun as officers tell him to drop the gun three times. Within minutes, an officer fired one shot into David Brooks Junior’s chest. Police Chief David Hess said a loaded-sawed off shotgun was found at the scene. It is illegal to carry a sawed-off shotgun in the state of North Carolina. Brooks was given first aid, but died from the wound to his chest. Two officers involved in the incident are on paid leave, which is standard procedure when an officer fires a weapon. The name of the officer who fired a shot has not been released.

  1. Everyone watching this video would have done exactly what the officer did regardless if you're a police officer or not. The officer did what he had to do period.

  2. No matter what the circumstance, if the cop is white and the suspect is black, the "community" will slap a "racist" sticker on it and loot local GameStops and Nike stores demanding "justice"… and the current President, assuming he can remember he IS the President, will condemn police action. Police either die a "hero" or live long enough to be fired as a "racist".

  3. Damn…one shot and he dropped like a sack of potatoez. Must have had slugs loaded in that thing.

  4. He used to be brave but stupid born. How many diapers wasted not only to think the time and money spend on a individual to died in this way.

  5. That is wadding you can see, this was definitely buckshot, not a slug. From the DA's report…
"An autopsy of the body of David Brooks, Jr. was completed on July 25, 2020. An agent with the SBI attended the autopsy and interviewed the pathologist at the conclusion. The pathologist concluded the deceased had seven shotgun pellets enter the left side of his chest, and one on the right side of his chest near his shoulder. The pathologist indicated the pellets that entered his chest were consistent with one shot, traveling front to back, left to right and slightly downward. Mr. Brooks did not have any other injuries besides this single gunshot wound to his chest."

  6. Oh yeesh. Yeah that's a dangerous situation ended very very abruptly. Makes you wish this stuff never happened but that's not reality. Poor cops, I'm sure that's not what they wanted to do that day.
