Hello Mike, your videos are appreciated, my son and I frequently watch them together. It has been about 15 years since I have fired any of my firearms, I never went for a CCW, work from home and basically only go get groceries as I have an internet job as a programmer. Years back I had been a firearm enthusiast, going to the range every weekend and was a fairly decent marksman, easily doing 1 hole groups with my 1911 at 25 yards and plenty satisfied with what I could do at 200 yards with my .308. Things changed for me where I just didn't do sport shooting anymore and surely I am out of practice.
Since I am nearing retirement age now and thinking of camping again, with intent to photograph the night sky, rivers, streams, rain … in places where there are big predatory animals, well … I have been considering range time and carry laws.
This has left me seeking advice. For the just in case scenario, Â considering having my hands full messing with a telescope at night way out from the city lights, it seems more practical to have a pistol on me for if ever an unavoidable encounter with a large predatory animal surfaces. Side stepping the odds of this, depending on if I am in West Texas or Alaska, and all the other large predator deterrents, my questions is should I CCW just for the convenience of open carry pistol in the wilds of West Texas, of course Alaska understands and allows pistol carry more liberally.
My entire life I have been able to avoid trouble and never even nearly encountered the thought of possibly applying lethal force due to being in a perceived hostile environment. Pretty cushy life I guess. Now, thinking ahead of where I will be going and possibilities on the road, wanting to maybe pack a rifle or shotgun or maybe something like a 10mm pistol, I have to consider where the firearm will be, it's accessibility, the mood of the general public and law enforcement personnel and the laws. Since logically if my hands are going to be busy with a camera, though a long gun is allowed in open carry most remote places, a holstered pistol is more convenient and likely more accessible for emergency use. Really i just want the convenience of protection when in the wilds; but a CCW would be required for the most convenience accessibility pretty much anywhere but Alaska.
Have you done a video on this subject or have any advice, thoughts suggestions? If I really don't want to carry except in the very remote wilderness areas, should I just forget CCW and large caliber pistol convenience and go for shotgun or rifle.
Thank you
You are a pure enemy of liberty. You are antifa.
He’s talking about eating a full turkey dinner without catching the “itis†isn’t he..?
Why live 100% for fear when the threat can only happen 0.1%?
I couldn't agree more
On the front wall of our training/meeting room at the department we had the following slogan in large letters… "Train as if your life depends on it… (and on the other side of the video screen) because it does!"
Cover your ASP!
People do not rise to the occasion, they default to their level of training. Slow equals smooth, smooth equals fast.
Hey can you make a video on how much free time a police officer has.
Good advice. You can never be over prepared. Train hard, train smart.
You fight with your mind. Your hands and wepons are merely an extention of your will
Hey why didn’t the Washington officer pursue the illegal immigrant that opened fired on him during a traffic stop the other day?? Im just curious, not saying he should or shouldn’t have
Nice aspiring motivational speaker vid. Mike, hope you continue this path. Needs to be a little longer though…
Also Mike I respect the fact that you're trying to talk to the public and being so open it's awesome. People can learn as well as yourself I like that much respect
Please don't forget, and I'm hoping that they train you guys in mental health issues oh my God. You seemed amped-up. And I understand what the world how it is it's just it sucks it sucks for you guys it sucks for the community it just sucks all the way around. You just got to be careful. And you've got to use officer discretion you have to I want to say that. Without officer discretion, and officers looking at every situation for what it is like you're saying, there would be a lot more mishaps. Your communication is a very very very important tool Mike. Not everybody was taught from a young age, to keep your hands on the steering wheel yes sir no sir, and advise the police officer when you're going to move. That is one of the things my dad taught me from a very young age. And I'm a white female go figure can you believe that one? It's just common sense and courtesy but it works both ways
was i the only one expecting a mugger to jump out or something O.o
not used to such serious videos from mike lol
I love the facial hair so much!!
If you ever feel lazy, listen to stuff like this and / or Tim Kennedy's Sheepdog Response. It'll give you a kick in the ass. Sometimes people just forget.
BIGGEST RULE: Don't ever speak to the police if you pull your firearm in defense even if you don't shoot and you've met all the guidelines for defense JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!
What can seniors do to help protect themselves?
I’ll be praying for you, brother.
Hello. I just saw a video about you on HighImpactVlogs. It discusses the ridiculous things you think and claim to know. It also breaks it down in such a way that a narcissist like yourself can understand. He even calls you out to have a live discussion with both your audiences and his. It would be a great stage for you to reach out to more people.
Patty Mayo Just impersonated a Police Officer 😉
Thanks Mike
Great point Mike…
train like your life depends on it my fellow Americans we must train..
For the day the thin Blue line may be violating your rights..
we must train with our minds and cameras.
These gangsters with guns travel in packs.
So fighting them physically will end in your death. Because it's always obey or die with these ego gangs..
A traffic stop puts them in fear for their lives…
standing up for your rights will get you killed…
Yup! Crazy time's we live in.
And you wonder why people don't like cops
Truer words have never been spoken sir. Thank you.
It is this truth, that we, the one who is present, are the first line of defense, that makes the 2nd Amendment a moral imperative.
Complacency kills!!
True!!!
I have no idea were to start would you make a video or guide me to a video that you have made that would inform me on this topic.
Thanks Victor Bolander
Dang dude that's some serious stuff. Training for dentistry isn't so dangerous.
Strong message, and can't be overstated. Many training sessions [ and nearly every range session ] are casual and " friendly ". We all want to enjoy our shooting experience, but cannot overlook the fact that this is about " lethal force ". I have conditioned myself to acknowledge this fact, that every time I holster my pistol for the day I'm preparing for a deadly encounter.
Train with a serious business attitude, someone's life may depend upon it.
Wow, the very serious tone in usually humorous videos is a wake-up. Thanks Mike.
What's my best bet for becoming a leo? I live in Michigan I'm 20 but only have a ged (no criminal record)
You got me Mr. Mike. Your heart's voice resonated with me. It's kinda cheating to remind us about the responsibility to our families and communities. I've never served in the military or as a law enforcement officer, but I'm a husband and neighbor. People may need to rely on me to do more than dial 911. Thank you.
Thanks, Mike. This motivated me to do a few push-ups.
Ah, so you're in favor of vigilante heroes fighting for justice?
Jokes aside, it is good to have some method of disarmament or repelling moves in mind.
Words of wisdom Mike!! That’s why my wife and I have firearms training every weekend and mma 2 days a week. Always be prepared for whatever may knock on your door!!! Another great vid!!
Excellent.
If you train jiu-jitsu what belt are you
AMEN, Brother!!
Damn, Mike. Straight chills.
