Torrance Police – Man Detained in Mistaken Identity

1. he needs arresting for driving that heap of shit

2. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? It's the other way around really isn't it!

3. Look how all these Leo's show up how many are there? Hemming up this poor man. Sickening! Could have been bad for the man and mistaken identity could have put him behind bars!

4. No innocent person should have to endure this bullshit. The police should not cuff anybody. They should tell them: Do you mind sticking around for a few minutes? We got a description of a suspect…. etc. If he says no, I can't stay, then detain him illegally right and cuff him right? The same is true for arrests. They should not arrest people until they have absolute proof. Don't even contact them. If you're afraid they are a flight risk, tail them. The burden of proof is on the government. But don't jail a potentially innocent person, and force them to spend money to bail out. And/or possibly die in custody, like me (for a crime I didn't commit). The Onus is on them. Only when they have a warrant, or grand jury indictment, should they then come to your house or place of work (or wherever, -to serve it).

5. Do you know if these Torrance cops are referred to as deputies?

6. Are you Serious ?!?!? In the US you handcuff a man, show him to a witness on the street and say "is this him?". Really?!?! Talk about a recipe for wrongfully finger pointing. At least a lineup has a group of people in it so it's not simply a "yes" or "no" answer as the case with a handcuffed man on the street. I presume you have the right not to participate in a police lineup and thus as the handcuffed man on the street have the right to refuse an identification on the street?

8. remember, when officers found this vehicle, they stopped looking for other vehicles, so the real criminal used that common police mistake to get away from the scene of his crime… and this is also how innocent people end up in jail, when a witness thinks officers surely caught the right guy, so they just say yeah thats him trying to "help" officers catch the bad guy…

11. This happened to my son last month. He refused to I D or be cuffed. 4 cops surrounded him with tazers drawn. They eventually let him walk away.
