According to Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), this was a self-initiated response by the deputy. There was no 911 call. Surveillance footage from the motel, shows 35-year-old Mario Ortega backing into a parking spot outside the motel. A woman is seen leaving his SUV. An Adams County deputy pulls up in front of the car, immediately pulling out his gun as he exits his patrol SUV. He appears to confront Ortega briefly behind the car. The video shows Ortega backing away from the deputy, holding a gun to his head. Then the deputy shoots him. The deputy then takes cover himself, calling for backup. After the shooting, the deputy and medical personnel treated Ortega who was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 1. I love when idiots try to hold themselves hostage, like the police actually care. All you are doing is proving to them that you are armed, and that you are erratic and reckless.

  2. He should have been shot just for parking where he did. That’s not a spot. Plus how can that car get out? Be nice if all these Mexican sounding names if we could know if they are illegals.

  3. If you slow it down he pulls holster off and goes to put gun back to his own head

This guy was stupid and is in the wrong but was this necessary yes you have to prepare for worst case but at no point was that gun aimed at the policemen and the 4 shots and the comments just think this is normal and OK.. you guys over in America are off your rocker

  4. Reading the comments always crack me up. Civil law suits don’t need beyond a reasonable doubt so it’s very easy to win and it’s very likely this department will give his family that didn’t care about him 5-20 million dollars just to shut them up.

  5. The question needs to be asked, what did he do that the deputy felt the need to self dispatch? It doesn't mention anything in the description. That's probably going to be the focus of the lawsuit. If the deputy can't prove that the self dispatch was lawful, then every event after that is moot.

  6. Ah yes, having a gun in your sweater's pocket and pulling it out while being detained is called "turning your life around"

  7. The guy pulled out a gun for one of two reasons: He was going to shoot the cop…or was going to shoot himself. Either way, the family should shove their civil lawsuit up their asses.

  8. Literally zero point giving CPR when the dude took one or two shots to the chest, nobody can survive a sucking chest wound before EMS gets there, survival rate for that is like 2% hah
