Albuquerque Police Department Academy – Cadet Officer OC Spray (Pepper Spray, Mace) Training – Everything Law and Order Blog

In this video The Albuquerque Police Department Academy is preforming Chemical Agent Deployment training in week 11 of the academy. Every cadet officer is spray in order to understand the effects of OC spray and how to continue to work through an arrest after being sprayed.

Pepper spray, mace, also known as OC spray (from “Oleoresin Capsicum”), OC gas, and capsicum spray, is a lachrymatory agent (a chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain, and even temporary blindness) used in policing, riot control, crowd control, and personal self-defense, including defense against dogs and bears.[1][2] Its inflammatory effects cause the eyes to close, taking away vision. This temporary blindness allows officers to more easily restrain subjects and permits persons using pepper spray for self-defense an opportunity to escape.

  1. Who ever came up with this idea of training is retarded. Maybe the should incorporate a shooting training on each other too, and that will make them stop and think when they just shoot anyone. Police should not have firearms too many innocent ppl have died and their trainings that are not effective. Unfortunately they are only taught to react and not to think before they react.

  2. So, the lesson here is that no one can continue to function after being pepper sprayed, including the police. Thanks for the info Albuquerque. Did anyone actually THINK this through first before posting it?

  3. every Academy is different so stop f**** talking s*** if they chose to do it a little chill oh well they did if you have never been sprayed before they shut your f**** mouth I've been in the f**** chamber to I really do the chamber and f**** get OC sprayed any f**** day and just to let you know we Wrestled a f**** huge fat mother f*** opened our pores then got Z pattern SPRAYED from eyebrows to mouth then we had a fight three people to the ground then find a gun and make an arrest then we can have our water after that we took an exam on the OC PowerPoint so yeah every Academy is different but like I said OC is painful enough funny how people talk s*** about police brutality they don't teach you that s*** at all the academy that all depends on the individual so if he grew up all f*** up or maybe has a different set of mind all that's him just cuz we are cops doesn't mean we're robots to be programmed a certain way every cop is different and individual that can think for himself so don't mistake that cops fault for all cops because our training is specifically the laws in the book nothing dealing with being aggressive or stupid s***

  4. Fuckin scumbags. Cowards . Wheres the VID WHERE THEY USES MENTALLY DISABLED HOMELESS PEOPLE FOR TARGET PRACTICE?

  5. Thats honestly not that great of a training. You would think they would have them fight through the pain by taking down a suspect like the Military does.

  6. Now if apd used wha they learned apd would b a better pd. Most milk it n abuse there law authority n r jus a laughing stalk some yes are awesome cops but there are da ones eho make apd look bad n those r always da ones who stand out.

  7. The police departments in the U.S are using state-of-the-art training techniques that are unbeatable. The Albuquerque police department is especially top notch in particular.
