-Happened just yesterday-
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department release body cam, picture and information of an officer involved shooting (non fatal) that occurred yesterday December 06.
Just before 2:30 p.m. School Resource Officer Byron Boelter had left Hunters Lane High School for the day when he approached a two-car crash at 1339 Dickerson Pike and stopped to assist those involved. Based on surveillance video from a nearby business, 20-year-old Rod Reed was driving erratically when he struck a Nissan Altima. When Officer Boelter arrived, paramedics were treating a mother and daughter who had been traveling in the Altima.
Officer Boelter walked over to a Chevrolet Camaro to check on any occupants. As Officer Boelter approached the driver’s side door, Reed reached for a gun on the dashboard of the Camaro from the passenger’s side. Officer Boelter instructed Reed not to retrieve the weapon, but Reed continued to move toward the gun. Officer Boelter fired his weapon and struck Reed in the leg.
Reed was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in stable condition. The gun was recovered at the scene near the Camaro.
The young girl, seen in the body worn camera, was transported to VUMC Pediatrics with minor injuries.
Officer Boelter is a 16-year veteran of the force. He is on routine administrative assignment at present.
The TBI is investigating this police shooting and will report its findings to the district attorney’s office.

I wonder how that gun ended up precariously balanced on the dash board immediately after a crash that ran him off the road……………. My guess is he was gonna go pull it on whoever he crashed with.
Obviously Mr. Reed was on his way to Doctor school when this tragic accident happened.
Unfortunately this police officer mistook Mr. Reed‘s intentions, Mr. Read was just trying to show this officer his brand new pew pew when the officer tried to murder him.

The cop was lighting fast at drawing his gun, shot that guy and took him down, but at the same time he felt bad and was extremely soft spoken and compassionate trying the help the guy. The cop did and excellent job and it goes to show they can professional, caring and deadly serious, multifaceted. The majority of cops are very good people

I was a dumb 20 year old. I made tons of mistakes. But I was never dumb enough to draw a gun on an officer. How do you make it that far in life with that low level critical thinking. It's absurd.

Now that's what u call a great cop. Didn't go over board with the shots fired, just enough to stop the kid. And he didn't act like the kid was still a threat by beating him up while he cuffed the kid. Great job by that officer. Wish there was more like him. They should show his body cam footage in training classes. That's a real hero in my book. His superiors must be proud of him. ✌ðŸ¼ðŸ‘ŠðŸ¼
