Mesquite, Texas — On February 19, 2024 at 08:49 a.m., Mesquite Police Dispatch received a call from a school administrator from Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy located at 3200 Oates Dr. The caller advised that there was a student in an office with a firearm in his hands refusing to put it down. Other administrators spoke with the suspect to keep him calm until officers arrived. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect was alone in the office. Officers provided verbal commands to the suspect.

At some point during the negotiations, three officers fired at the suspect. The suspect then complied with commands and was taken into custody. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition. The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old student from the campus, and his identity is being withheld due to his juvenile status. The school was searched by officers according to standard procedures. Reunification was conducted at a nearby church where students from the school were released to family members according to the school’s emergency plans.

  1. It's so weird how things have changed. My dad used to bring his hunting rifle and gear in his truck to school during hunting season, as did other students who hunted.

Never once had someone use a gun for something bad.

My generation had mass shootings instead. It's wild to think how crazy shit has gotten.

  2. Why are comments turned off for the video of the cop shooting the innocent guy in his home, mistaken for an intruder?

  3. 😮😮😢 i seriously don't know what is happening in our world right now!!?? Kids shooting other kids.. kids shooting parents.. parents killing thier own children!!?? Dear Lord 🙏🏼 i do NOT understand… Why!!???

  4. It looks like some of the bullets went through the drywall. Just think of the back stop on the rear wall in the room that the officers were firing into.

  5. Stop allowing students to be harassed/bullied at school and this wouldn't happen. These kids are forced to go to school and then get bullied, all while being helpless to do anything about it.

  6. Whats messed up is the kids bringing guns to school is them either solving a bully issue or It has something to do with gangs. When adults bring them, its for an agenda. Im 27, when i was 13 in middleschool there were gangs, there were guns, knives, drugs brought to school an either used or sold. I remember one kid shooting up herøin in the boys bathroom.
