Houston, Texas — The Houston Police Department released body camera footage related to the September 20th, 2021 shooting that killed one police officer and wounded another. At approximately 7:30am, Houston police officers assigned to the major offenders division attempted to execute an arrest warrant for 31-year-old Deon Ledet. Officer Johnson knocked on the door and a female answered. Officer Johnson stated the Officers had an arrest warrant for Ledet and asked if he was inside the residence. The female was asked to step outside. Ledet opened fire striking Officer William Jeffrey and Sgt. Charles Vance. Officer Jeffrey, who was standing to the officer’s right in the doorway, can be seen collapsing to the ground immediately after the gunfire starts. Sgt. Vance, who was standing behind Jeffrey, falls to the ground also and crawls away, telling another officer he’s been hit. Officers returned fire and sought cover. Ledet was fatally shot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officer Jeffrey was pronounced dead at a hospital following the shooting. Sgt. Vance was transported in serious but stable condition and was released from the hospital several days later.

  1. Funny how hard it is for regular law abiding citizens to get a fully automatic weapon while criminals seem to get then pretty easy. Really makes you think.

  2. Since most has been said. I love that Officer Morelli knew his shit, stay behind cover, keep eyes on if you can. Return fire. shooting and moving so he doesn't pin point you or move to a window behind concealment and easily target you where you sit. That and to me the best is Officer Gutierrez.. My guy hears the shit hit the fan and stays in his position, if it weren't for him the suspect would have left to kill another day, but he kept him contained when he poked out the back. RIP Officer William Jeffrey, God knows how many lives you helped save.

  3. Biden and the BLM crowd have egged this type of behavior on for far too long. No wonder Americans now think Trump was a better POTUS according to recent polls. Let’s Go Brandon.

  4. Wait so is bill okay? Because that's fucked up that he was left like that on the floor. That dude should be kept in prison hes a danger to society. Sad to see a human harm another human.

  5. The officer died if multiple GSW's to the "torso and extremities". He fell as if he took a head shot but his autopsy didn't show that in the news reports. So where in the HELL did he get that apparently worthless bulletproof vest, that couldn't take shots from a simple handgun?!

  6. With all due respect to the dead and injured officer, I have issues in their tactics. These officers were assigned to the Major Offenders Division. That means they are suppose to be the cream of the crop from their department because they have to deal with the baddest of the bad. They probably get better training and better weapons than the average uniformed officer in a patrol car on the beat. So my issues are:

    1. Why are they only armed with pistols? I did not see any officer with a shotgun or any type of rifle. Apparently this suspect had an arrest history for firearm possession and they show up with pistols, not very smart.
    2. Why were three of the officers standing directly in front of the doorway when the gun fire starts. As an officer you do not stand in front of a door, it is a kill zone.  Stand to the side when you knock and when the door is open if there is a suspect inside. The suspect can still shoot you through the wall but most common criminals do not think that way, they will shoot or try to shoot what they see only. The bricks on the facade of the apartment would have given the officers some protection.
    3. Why was there an officer sitting inside the police vehicle typing on the computer inside the police vehicle when the gun fire started. Why was that officer not deployed on the apartment, why is he sitting in the police car. The gun fire starts and he starts fumbling with his pistol inside the car and trying to drive the car, pathetic.

IMO they were unprepared or complacent.

  7. The lack of cover used in this video is the scariest part. A fully body armored officer would be appropriate to use on a prior violent offender too. Your life is worth more than comfort….

  8. Two things missing here are BLM and a father. My heart goes out to the department and the families involved! The politicians are failing us all including our officers! The system is shameful and needs to be changed!!

  9. Poor Bill ☹️ hope Sarge recovered ok. What happened to mom? I didn’t see where she went in any of the body cams

  10. SWAT Team would have been the best choice but America keeps defunding the police so much that soon the Boy Scouts will be on call.
