Pinellas County, Florida — At approximately 9:50 p.m. on April 19, 2022, Pinellas Park Police Department officers responded to the Circle K located at 4900 Ulmerton Road after reports of a domestic disturbance between a male and a female. According to detectives, the female reported the suspect threatened her, therefore she locked herself in the bathroom inside Circle K. Officer Derr arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Calvin Brockington. Detectives say while in the gas station of Circle K, Brockington walked toward Officer Derr and shot him in the right bicep, incapacitating him. Brockington then reportedly ran into the gas station store and stole a man’s keys.

Detectives say when Officer Gavin arrived on scene and confronted Brockington, he shot at her. Officer Gavin returned fire, but did not strike him. Brockington then carjacked a vehicle in the gas station, drove toward Officer Gavin, then fled the scene. Brockington traveled east bound on Ulmerton Road where Pinellas County Sheriff Office deputies and the Flight Unit began to pursue him. Brockington then entered onto I-275 and fled southbound, where he exited in the area of 928 22nd Avenue South. Brockington was confronted by deputies and taken into custody. Officer Derr was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Brockington was taken into custody and several charges are pending.

  1. That female officer didn’t “confront “ the suspect she literally just let him run and take a shot at her she had no urgency in her actions

  2. Holy f'king crap…seriously?? Wtf is wrong with American citizens needing to just out of the blue shoot at cops? I mean holy f'king crap man. American criminals need to chill tf out man because confronting an officer like this will only bring a hefty prison term or death. Is that really worth it? My father was a cop and we didn't get along but never have I thought to shoot at one knowing it's just not worth the consequences…unless you're a few cards short of a deck

  3. Props to the officer for keeping cool and not returning fire in a crowded area like that. Found cover and reduced the total amount of shots fired. Probably saved lives. Chase him down later in an area with less bystanders. Looking quickly at the description that's exactly what they did. Glad everyone came out of this one alive.

  4. CNN Headline- He was good family man that made one bad decision. The courts should go easy on him as he has been a victim his whole life. If this happened in and Democrap run city he would have been out on bail within 2 hours

  5. Wouldn't mind a repeal of the ban on "Cruel and Unusual punishment" for cases like this. This would have been a perfect person to be drawn and quartered in the middle of town

  6. It's getting so bad that you can not even go to the local stop-and-rob store without getting shot or carjacked.

  7. That’s why I’m glad I got my ccw. That dude woulda grabbed my keys then got his ass blasted as soon as he tried to leave the store. No regrets and no f**ks given.

  8. We have a problem when a group of people are protected by the justice system and dont have to follow the laws like the rest of us. So remember that next time someone tells you about equity.
