Pleasantville, New Jersey — On May 24, 2022, Pleasantville Police received a 911 call at approximately 9:35 a.m. indicating that an individual had discharged a gun at the Dollar General store located on South New Road in Pleasantville. At approximately 9:37 a.m., a Pleasantville Police Officer responded to the Dollar General and discovered Mr. Whitted inside the store – with a handgun protruding from his right pocket. As additional officers arrived, Mr. Whitted walked toward the officers and refused to follow directions to stop and drop to the ground, at which time Whitted said to the officers “shoot me.” The officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by backing away and allowing Whitted to exit the store and stand on the front sidewalk.

Whitted then reached for and placed his hand on the handgun in his right pocket, at which time five police officers discharged their duty firearms at him. Officers and an EMT rendered medical aid to Whitted. He was eventually taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he underwent hours of surgery. Whitted was charged in June with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Initially, Whitted’s charges were dropped through an administrative dismissal, but they were reinstated. He was taken to the Atlantic County jail after he was released from the hospital.

  1. Bro. I understand that they have to face some serious situations… But you cant freeze like that as a cop. I mean he was like aiming at his colleagues for atleast 30 seconds??? (from 7:30)
Kudos for the two colleagues that stepped in and aided mental support to comfort him and deescalate the situation. They seriously need to check up on that cop with some councelling talks or something he might be having PTSD symptoms that could get worse.

  2. I'm sorry for these 911 operators are ridiculous sometimes clearly the lady is telling you the location or what is happen she is scared and even frighten everything she is saying the operator going to rephrase like she can't believe either do your fully up questions not repeat what she saying that's annoying

  3. That cop really should not be a cop, freezing like that and pointing a weapon at your buddies while they approach a suspect is really bad policing. He is not made for this job. 😱😱😞

  4. Sorry but the first officer needs to find a new career if you get worked up that fast that bad then it's not the job for you

  5. Why did the first responding 911 lady 3 way the call to the 911 dispatcher. Are the 911 calls actually going to 911 dispatch centers or are they being sub contracted out and dispatch center and one lady answering 911 call that are filter though another company? 🤔 something isn't right there, Americans need a reform of there system. To many branches doing the same work and requesting more and more money each year. Even though crime is made by our politicians and the war on drugs, that we seem to never win…

  6. He had that gun pointed at his fellow officers back for way to long. He needs a new profession

  7. Cop was totally freak out and losing it. Guy is in the wrong profession. He could of hurt innocent bystanders or his fellow colegues

  8. The black cop that froze in fear (still holding his gun up) while the other officers were in front of him; needs to be removed from patrolling the streets. He is a liability. He needs to apply for a job at Home Depot.

  9. This police officer past out and he have health problems need to found another job because this normal day for police officers in us

  10. Really think the Police should have 2 sets of Police Officers. The ones who don't like shooting criminals, and the ones who do like shooting criminals. I mean I just don't get all the emotions of shooting bad people. But these same people will go to the woods and shoot a deer that has done absolutely nothing to nobody. Like Mr. Spock would say…. It's just not logical. ……….GRIM
