Muskogee police released video from an officer’s body camera last week showing an officer using pepper spray on an 84-year-old woman. Geneva Smith’s family says Muskogee Police pepper sprayed her when they tried to arrest her son. The family members said she had to go to the hospital. They’re demanding an apology from the police department. Muskogee Police said Smith was non-compliant to verbal commands and tried to resist an officer’s attempt to physically restrain her. Officers said they then used pepper spray.

Comply-ant or not, there was no need to deploy pepper spray. The female officer needs to find a new line of work. There were like six officers in the room and the older woman was moving away, as commanded, and she is 84 years old and weighs like 84 pounds.

She is still resisting and not listening to even pepper spray threats so don’t expect her to listen to a “please calm down†that easily.
