Chicago, Illinois — The Civilian Office of Police Accountability has released officer body-cam videos from a Lawndale incident last month in which two officers and a suspect were shot. The shooting happened in the 1500 block of South Lawndale Avenue about 7:19 a.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 as officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire. Both officers tried to engage the suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Bruce Lua and followed him down an alley. The video shows one officer approaching the suspect with his gun drawn when the suspect immediately opens fire. One video shows an officer falling to the ground as he returns fire. Lua, was hit in the leg, but survived. Lua is now charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery. Both of the injured officers are also okay and were saluted as they left the hospital later that day.

  1. To everyone praising the officers in this situation all I'll say is what in the world did I just watch?

Two officers walked directly up to a man who was armed with a firearm and refused to put it down after repeated requests to do so putting themselves at ridiculous levels of risk.

This is frankly poor policing. The cops were terrified of doing what needed to be done which resulted in two cops shot…

    Terrible video.

  2. Armed suspect casually pursued on foot as if he's not, got those guys shot. Peaceful policing doesn't work on guys who prefer to shoot and kill you.

  3. The DA asked for "no bail" for the perp, but the judge gave him the lowest bail allowed under the charges.

The perp had two open warrants for bond violations for assault charges..

  4. Police brutality ?¿?¿?¿ Cops fallowed him 3 blocks on foot trying everything to make the pieace of shit comply !!!! If they would of shot him 2 blocks ago the cops would not of have gotten shot.

Dumb ass bystanders don't even know what happen !

  5. So this is the world now, We have to wait till a bad guy trys to kill cops before they are stopped. This is fkn outrageous, Chicago needs new leadership, needs national guard , needs stop and frisk. Needs to sue BLM and open more programs directed at young ones and nip this shit it in bud. GOD BLESS THE POLICE! RIP America as we are not what we use to be.

  6. And theres gonna be riots on this because its a black man. And 50 dollars says the media will say he was unarmed and a honor roll kid

  7. You gotta hand it to that dude, he's a real gangster. And you gotta hand it to those cops, they are real deal cops. Every single one of them did exactly what they were supposed to do. And they stopped him. Had any of them been even 2%less bad mf he was getting away… what he did worked, just didn't work well enough and u had two cops with massive balls getting in the way. That was wild Westside. Dude had some moves, cops had better moves. Wonder how many times this dude has run that play and made it? Like thats probably not the first time he's shot at ppl… that was a Hella a move. He got the drop on em.
