A man wielding a hammer in the direction of Tahlequah police officers said “someone’s gonna die tonight” shortly before the officers used deadly force against him, the police chief said. Police chief Nate King said during a Friday news conference that although an outside investigation is pending, he believes the officers’ actions were “necessary, not just justified” because the man, 49-year-old Dominic Rollice of Park Hill, escalated the situation and made the officers fear for their lives. “A reasonable officer would have sensed a clear and present danger to them and to their other officers,” he said of the situation, saying he felt confident making that judgment before the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation completes its evaluation of the incident.
The department held the conference to release body camera footage and a 911 call related to the shooting one week after Lt. Brandon Vick and Officer Josh Girdner fired a combined six shots at Rollice when he refused multiple requests to drop a hammer he had pointed toward them and Officer Chase Reed. The 15-minute video from Reed’s body camera shows that the officers commanded Rollice to drop the hammer at least eight times, and that Rollice repeatedly said “No.” Vick has worked nearly 10 years of law enforcement; Reed and Girdner have about three and five years of experience, respectively. While Girdner and Vick fired at Rollice, Reed simultaneously deployed his Taser, causing Rollice to drop to the ground, King said. After the shooting occurred, Reed could be seen and heard rendering aid to Rollice, including administering CPR, before an ambulance arrived.
Girdner’s body camera malfunctioned, and the memory on Vick’s camera filled up before he responded to the call involving Rollice, King said. The audio from Reed’s camera can’t be heard until about 30 seconds after the footage begins. All Tahlequah police officers have been required to wear body cameras since August 2014. The officers arrived at a home in the 400 block of Shawnee Court just after 9:30 p.m. Aug. 12 after receiving a call from a woman who said that her ex-husband Rollice refused to leave her garage. “He’s drunk, and it’s gonna get ugly real quick,” the woman could be heard telling a 911 dispatcher. The dispatcher replied that police would jail Rollice on a public intoxication complaint if they went to her home, and she said she wanted him to be taken into custody.
“In fact, he’s a registered sex offender,” the woman said. “He lives in Park Hill. He’s got tools in the garage, but he doesn’t live here.” Rollice, in the video, could be heard saying, “I’m in my house; I’m doing nothing wrong,” and telling Reed that he saw the Taser that was pointed at him. After noticing Reed’s Taser, Rollice moved his right arm backward in a move that King said indicated a possible intent to attack Reed, who was set to use less-lethal force. The other two officers had their service weapons drawn, which is when Reed decided to employ a non-deadly use of force, he said. The officers fired at Rollice immediately after his arm moved back, the footage shows. They could then be heard yelling, “Hold your hands up!” at Rollice, who was grunting but not speaking.
“Dominic, you gotta stay with me. Stay with me,” Reed says to Rollice while the other officers secure the scene. “EMS is on the way, OK? Stay with me.” Reed then performs CPR on Rollice, who could no longer be heard breathing in the video. King said the officers’ required paid administrative leave has placed additional manpower challenges on the department, which already had five officers absent for various reasons before the Aug. 12 shooting. However, none of the officers will return to work until the OSBI completes its evaluation of the shooting and the men clear a psychological evaluation. “All the other officers here have picked up the slack. We’ve gone to 12-hour shifts to patrol the streets,” King said. Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp said the agency has not yet fully reviewed the body camera footage but has been briefed on the incident. He said prosecutors would review the OSBI’s report before making their decision.

This was a justified shooting, a registered sex offender? No love loss with me
That was his favorite hammer.
He got on the ground. ðŸ‘ðŸ¼
I means I get that if someone is a threat to a police officer they either tase him or shoot him, but in this video it shows someone holding a hammer and police holding a gun, of course officer going to win but then why shoot, a hammer cannot even kill people , but a pistol can . Probably the police officer weren’t even threatened he just wanted to shoot him that’s all.
Ill have yall know this is a Murder. The police officers Murdered Him and they wont Get away with it!
wife wanted him dead imo
Take a step and see if he swings it. He seemed kinda harmless to me. Shoot him in the leg? Why does everyone have to die?
Dude was a sex offender, he knows how it goes in prison so he took the easy way out.
The old blur of death
His final few seconds are at 1:00, actually changes his mind about life but its too late.
Usually I love seeing dum dums getting blasted but this one IDK. The dude was far away but hey hey what can I say. Fk him.
Someone kept it on the sight, and the rest would have been taken by electric shockers … why should the three shoot ???

The gun shots PoliceActivity are Rubber bullets or the real one?
Well now, that’s using your bad judgement.
Holding a hammer H OLDING! Not swinging which he wasn't close enough to hit anyone if he was swinging it. Not throwing which means he's out of "ammo" if he did throw it, you saying you couldn't have ducked? Are your reflexes so slow you couldn't have have moved if he did charge, or fire a justified shot if he charged?
*************ATTENTION ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES*****************
~~~~~~~~~~STOP HIRING WEAK MINDED AND WEAK BODIED PEOPLE~~~~~~~
Your number one question should be: Were you bullied in school? Then verify that response before proceeding further. Everyone is completely willing to accept, that almost everything in a person's youth effects what kind of adult they become, except when it comes to bullying. Bullying invoked fear, terror, horror in its victims. It's a learned response. It fundamentally changes their ability to rationally react to a fearful situation. Deductive reasoning flies out the window in the face of fear. It makes no sense to give a gun to a person who becomes irrational in frightening situations. And we all know ME is filled with frightening situations. In my opinion, not learning this one simple fact about a potential hire, or having them submit to an intensely fright triggering evaluation of their response to this stimuli, makes every agency not doing this, complicit in the murder of innocents, and the unjustified killing of individuals who could have survived an encounter had the individuals responding been capable of rational thinking and possessed adequate problem solving skills. Of course I have no hope of a process like this ever happening. First there would have to be something done about the Us v. Them mentality, that makes EVERY citizen a lowlife ignorant scumbag criminal in the eyes of the cops. Just listen to the way they address people these days. It's always condescending. It's always we the people having to bow down like they are nobility, always having to apologize for our emotions, always having to beg for help, always having to self deprecate ourselves in front of them, always having to submit to whatever intimidation tactic they feel like throwing at us…. And on and on and on. They are given an inch of power and they take about a dozen trips around the world. We are supposed to be ok with submitting to charges they come up with when we know we have done absolutely nothing wrong. If we go so far as to question them or heaven forbid protest against the false charges, we are supposed to be ok when they beat us and kill us. We are supposed to be ok if they break the law and get away with it. Just get rid of current bullying victims on the job, and don't ever hire another one and the number of injuries and deaths from from LE contact will drop dramatically.
But then again they would have to have two fucks to give in the first place. Nevermind.
For a second I thought he used the invincibility hack 😳
They used to not blur it out
