Norwalk, California — On January 27, 2024, at 5:40 p.m., Norwalk Station deputies responded to a business in the 11000 block of Rosecrans Avenue, Norwalk, regarding a call of a robbery in progress. The caller stated a male, armed with a rifle, was stealing merchandise. The male was later identified as 38-year-old Jerald Hardcastle of Lake Elsinore. Deputies located Hardcastle standing between several parked vehicles in the rear parking lot of the business. He was given numerous commands to place his hands on his head and walk toward deputy personnel, but he refused to comply. After several minutes, deputies formed a tactical plan to approach Hardcastle. As deputies moved toward Hardcastle’s position, he retrieved a shotgun, faced the deputies, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

Hardcastle sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand. As deputies went to detain Hardcastle, he began to resist and was taken down to the ground and subsequently tased. Deputies rendered first aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. Hardcastle was transported to a local hospital where he received medical treatment and was medically cleared for booking. It was later determined Hardcastle had entered the business and had pointed a shotgun at the employees. During the incident, Hardcastle stole U.S. currency from the register, and merchandise from the business. A loaded shotgun was recovered at the scene. In addition, Hardcastle was in possession of two assault rifles. There were no other persons injured in the incident.

  1. That's a lot of lead for a guy who seemed to be holding his hands up, though, to be fair officers need to be protected at all costs.

  2. Approaching a suspect who've they just been told robbed a liquor store with a shotgun, what could possibly go wrong. "Ok, the Taser didn't work, lets try the truncheon", really?

  3. The cops almost murdered that dude. Probably more accurately they would have committed voluntary manslaughter. The deputy that fired first had too itchy of a trigger finger. And don't get me started on the deputy just to his right. Firing one handed. Damn shame.

  4. What a f-ing shit show. Passing the 40? Is California alright? Absolutely insane tactics. I’ve seen better movie cops in LA! 🤦

  5. 911 dispatcher was so confrontational. I think she thought he was swatting the store. Regardless, it's unprofessional to question a caller why someone else didn't call. How is any person supposed to know if someone else is doing something in an emergency? How is any person supposed to know someone else's thoughts?

  6. Love the wording in the report….. "located 2 assult rifles", that is very ignorant of someone who carries weapons for their job. If an officer is equipped with a "long gun", they do not call it an "assult rifle".
This all stemmed up from people in the media, ignorant people, thinking a manufacturer who's name is "ArmaLite", thus "AR". But only ignorant people think it means "Assult Rifle". Even Snopes is correct on this one, and that is amazing a fact checker gave "False" to claims of being an assult rifle.
Most educated people laugh, at the mention of assult rifles, because it is a joke. An assult rifle would be a sniper weapon, but even those who have used them, merely call it a weapon, or give names to their weapons. People need to clean up their act on AR's, or continue getting laughed at for being a fool.

  7. Dude he had it above his head then started pointing it straight up. Why did the cop start shooting him? He never aimed at them

  8. Whats up with dispatchers expecting callers to know the address of a random store? It's significantly easier for someone to say the name of the store and where vs the actual address.

  9. Guy in the store comes around the racking & clearly sees the guy robbing the place with a shotgun & then just stands there & THEN his kid comes up behind him & stands. People think everything is on TV & they are somehow safe if they are not the immediate perp or victim.

  10. Bruuuh I mean look a 8:24 there’s a car passing by when they start shooting and one cop is shooting while hiding behind the car and shooting blindly.

  11. Hell naw these cops are fucking stupid. They’re shooting straight at civilians. Like the car where you can she their brake light, plus everyone in the parking lot or in the stores wtf.

  12. Commiefornia at it again. 40s, shields, helicopter, 100 rounds and only hit the mf in the hand. Not to mention the backdrop for the radical fire (officer one handing over the car) were innocent citizens across the street.
