Henderson Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery/Kidnapping Resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting:
On October 15, 2020, at 6:10 pm, Henderson Police Officers responded to the area of East Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway to investigate the report of a kidnapping/armed robbery, which ultimately ended in an officer discharging his firearm, striking the suspect seven times.
During the initial news briefing, it was reported that the suspect exited his vehicle with a firearm in his hand, which resulted in the officer-involved shooting. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect did not exit the vehicle armed with a firearm. It was determined that the suspect discarded the firearm prior to the accident. A loaded firearm was located on the roadway along the path of the pursuit. Investigators believe that this is the firearm that the suspect had in his possession during the kidnapping/robbery and the firearm the officer saw in the suspect’s hand during the vehicle pursuit. This handgun was recovered and impounded by investigators.
Based upon these findings, the suspect, David Flores Jr., has been charged with the following offenses:
1st Degree Kidnapping w/a Deadly Weapon
Robbery w/a Deadly Weapon
Attempt Robbery w/a Deadly Weapon
Assault on a Protected Person w/a Deadly Weapon
Driver Disobeying a Peace Officer/Endangering other Persons/Property
Possession of a Gun with an Altered/Removed Serial Number
Ex-Felon Possession of a Firearm
Flores was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition expected to survive. His booking photo is not available at this time.
These are the details known at this point in the investigation. However, it is important to reiterate that the investigation is still ongoing. We will continue to investigate all the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident diligently and will provide any significant updates as they become available.
The department is preparing a Critical Incident Community Briefing that will provide the details related to this incident. We expect this to be completed and released in the next week.
This is the fifth officer-involved shooting in 2020.
The involved Henderson Police Officer remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

What’s wrong with the police dispatcher lady? The victims are very loud and clear but she’s the only one who can’t make out what they’re saying & keeps talking over them as if to confuse them. Especially when they’re still in a panic instead of listening asking rhetorical questions because they’re already answered it she’d only listen without interrupting. Wasting valuable time in my opinion as the suspect gets away. She should quickly say; “A young Hispanic male driving a black suv with spare tire mounted on the back, possibly a felon since he mentioned recently hanging gotten out of prison so approach with caution since he might be armed†to area officers responding. She sounded like interrogating the victims wasting valuable time. 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
