DASHCAM FOOTAGE CAPTURES POLICE CAR GOING AIRBORNE DURING CHASE!!! – Everything Law and Order Blog

@CopsConsTV @CopsConsTV obtained Arkansas State Trooper dash cam footage from a police chase in Fort Smith, Arkansas of a high speed pursuit.

Arkansas State Police took over a chase around 6:30 a.m. April 10 after reports of a truck driving erratically.

Dash camera video showed the driver of a truck swerve into oncoming lanes of traffic. Trooper Michael Shawn Ellis was behind the truck when the order was given to get the driver stopped.

The video shows the patrol car colliding with the truck at speeds of more than 100 mph. Both vehicles crashed, and as the truck rolled it catapulted Trooper Ellis’s patrol car through the air, where it snapped a utility pole. Both vehicles came to rest upside down.

Police said the driver of the truck, Justin Battenfield, 34, died from his injuries.

Trooper Ellis was treated and released from the hospital and is home recovering from his injuries.

Citing the ongoing investigation, a State Police spokesperson would not speculate on why Battenfield would not stop for police and the spokesperson would not comment whether or not the pursuit should have been terminated.

According to State Police policy, officers should exercise discretion in deciding whether to initiate a pursuit. The decision to terminate a pursuit can be made by the primary unit or ordered by a supervisor at any time during the pursuit.

  1. Although he came in a little hot, the PM was ok until trucks' under carriage caught the front of the trooper.
When the truck rolled at the driveway pipe it kicked the car higher as it rolled right over the truck.
Chase/pit is unpredictable when the surface geometries exceed flat and level. pavement I feel for the guy.

  2. This ASP officer should be charged with manslaughter or MURDER. I used to think these PIT maneuvers were fun to watch but we are not talking about fleeing bank robbers or murderers.. Oh, so-no-so's tags were expired… Someone's driving "erratically"…. I'm not saying people shouldn't spend time in jail.. But, what the Arkansas State Police are doing to class C or B misdemeanors that flee is aggravated vehicular assault!!!… Ask the pregnant lady that is suing them for flipping her upside down when the video clearly shows she put on her hazards and was trying to get to a publicly lit area at night. Look up the THOUSANDS of families across this country who have been snuffed out literally as collateral damage. Most departments in this country disengage persuits that can potentially put the public in danger, or even the person fleeing unless it is a felony, that again, who could kill or carjack someone. Think about your loved ones getting wiped out or someone having your baby in a vehicle (carjacked) and the police just go nuts wanting to PIT = ROLL them out…

  3. I hope the officer got fired.. 109 mph pit maneuver WTF look at the gps speed on the bottom of the screen.. This cop'er is put of control guess GTA trained him. I dont care what the guy did this amount of destruction was not worth it..

  4. I completely thought this was one of those clickbait photoshop pictures. That was wild i can't even imagine the range of emotions felt in that short time.
