   Description:
   Rusk County, Texas — On September 14, 2022, shortly after 1:00 a.m. a deputy pulled over, 29-year-old Timothy Michael Randall for a traffic violation in the area of Highway 64 and CR 4125. Deputy Shane Iverson told Randall he had pulled him over because he saw him run the stop sign at the 4-way stop, which Randall denied having done. He told Randall to get out of the vehicle, which he did, the video shows, but then he appears to struggle with the deputy when he was attempting to handcuff him. A physical struggle ensued. The struggle ended in a single gunshot that killed Randall.

   Deputy Iverson shot Randall under his arm, and it exited through his chest cavity, destroying his heart. Randall ran about 20 paces after he was shot, and then collapsed to the ground, where he died. During the pat-down, officials claim Randall “attempted to conceal contraband in his waistband and made furtive movements to his waistband.” The attorney for Rusk County said that the deputy believed Randall was attempting to hide a small gun down the front of his pants, but said it was later found to be a pipe in an eyeglasses case. In October 2023, Randall's mother Wendy Tippitt filed a federal lawsuit claiming wrongful death and civil rights violations.

5. That cop had an issue from the start. Watching these videos has made me respect police officers even more..but not this one. I think I just watched that young man get murdered by an angry old fat guy high on power…over a freaking stop sign. WTF?

17. The cop was in a fight with a man on drugs committing a DUI who was non compliant and combative. The police man was in his rights to shoot. He could have just as easily stepped back in the fight as run down the sidewalk, which is when the cop fired. Hats off to deputy quickdraw. Maybe he won't kill any of your family in a DUI or drug fueled bender thanks to law enforcement. ORRRRR maybe he could have just complied and not fought a cop and still be alive. It's really impossible to tell though.

23. Yeah, I wasn’t thinking the guy really did anything that wrong and that he was actually pretty decent and compliant at least superficially. As was stated in one of the other comments, I generally side with the police, but in this case I can’t see that this was worth the death penalty.

27. the kid was not even close to struggling with the cop. The young man lost hhis life over nothing. Absolutly a wrongful death. RIP !

28. If Timothy Michael had been black this would have been national news , I just became aware of it today .

    I can’t believe the grand jury did not indict this officer. The officer escalated the situation, and then used deadly for when there was no “objectively reasonable” threat.

    Mr Michael was unarmed with both hands voidable and was running away. This was tragic.

30. WTF a traffic stop does not give the cop the right to order you out of your vehicle and search you. Write the ticket for the violation and be on your way.

37. Why did he order him out the car for "running a stop sign"? And every thing that followed was even worse police work. Hopefully this officer will be charged and thrown in prison for murder.

38. Funny how even after two years of fighting to keep this video covered up, they still didn't show that guy committing a traffic infraction. Makes me think even more that the guy didn't even run a stop sign. If he had a pipe, he could've just taken the ticket and drove away, but he didn't. He persistently denied even doing so. If it was something more serious, I'd be warry of his denial, but for jyst running a stop sign???
