Pasco County, Florida — In the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 31, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in Hudson, where they found a deceased adult male. Preliminary investigation determined that a suspect shot the victim, who was known to him, during a robbery and fled with a backpack that contained money. A few hours later, the vehicle was spotted in the New Port Richey area. The suspect fled when deputies attempted a traffic stop. Shortly after, deputies were able to deploy stop sticks and hit one of the car’s tires.
The suspect continued to flee from deputies but ultimately stopped when the car became disabled from the stop sticks. The suspect fled into a wooded area and was quickly detained by K9 Shep and K9 Dep. Carmack. The suspect’s girlfriend was also in the car and was detained, and deputies located the backpack with money and a gun in the car. The suspect was arrested for the homicide. This body worn camera, from Deputy Carmack, shows the end of the pursuit and the apprehension.
