Elk Grove, California — On February 21, 2023, around 10:32 p.m., officers had responded to a carjacking report where the suspect, who was known to the victim and according to witnesses believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance, brandished a firearm, threatened suicide, and drove away in the victim’s car. At around 11:39 p.m., officers responded to the Holiday Inn Express (9175 W. Stockton Boulevard) regarding a disturbance between an adult male and a hotel employee. When the officers arrived, they recognized and confirmed the stolen vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied, from the earlier call.
The officers encountered the suspect, 40-year-old Booker Pannell, in the hotel lobby, armed with a handgun. Pannell refused to comply with the officers’ repeated commands and an officer deployed their Taser, which was ineffective. Pannell ran through the hallway of occupied hotel rooms, armed himself with a handgun from his waistband as he ran toward an occupied parking lot, resulting in the officer to discharge his service weapon. Officers rendered medical aid until the suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. An innocent bystander, who was entering the hotel, hit the ground but was unharmed.

Thank God you the bystander wasnt hit or you wouldve never heard the end of it from me. Everything was pretty fair game in this one, but its a good reminder to really try to reserve the force of the gun unless completely necessary, police could kill innocent bystanders mag dumping on criminals trying to run. This is something ive thought about myself which is my 3rd reason I justify wearing a vest almost everywhere I go. I could be that innocent bystander getting shot, anybody could be. Whether its the cops or the perpetrator, either way, this country is just too out of control. Screw that fool in the white house I blame him the most, but doesnt mean everybody else has nothing to do with it. We should all do our best to not contribute to the massive violence issues in this country

Here's how to avoid 99.99% of these awful police encounters: Don't do drugs, don't engage in any criminal activity, comply with the officers. Easy rules which would prevent almost all of this channel's videos.

I'm no expert but this doesn't seem like a great way to engage or handle this situation. Extremely lucky they didn't kill an innocent person.
