The incident was initiated at 12:40 a.m. on February 13, 2024 when Modesto Police Officer Clayton Keener conducted a
traffic stop near the intersection of Paradise Road and Martin Luther King Drive.
The driver an adult female and the passenger later identified as 41-year-old Mark Coke Junior were contacted
by the officer. The driver provided her license while the passenger Coke identified himself verbally.
The identity provided by the passenger was determined not to be his and came back to someone who was on searchable probation.
Backup Officer Raphael Campos arrived and was directed to keep an eye on the occupants of the car shortly after officer Keener asked the driver to step out of her car he attempted to confirm Coke through identity from the driver. Officers
instructed Coke to step out of the car but before doing so he appeared to be reaching for something and would not raise his left hand as officer Campos reached over to control Coke’s arm, Coke produced a gun and pointed it towards the officer,
Both officers discharged their firearms as they retreated from the car just prior to officer Keener transitioning over to his handgun he deployed his taser. Officers waited for additional help and a ballistic shield before approaching once the loaded 9mm Ruger was recovered.
Coke received Medical Aid from the officers until paramedics arrived. Coke was then transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Upon being medically cleared, Mark Coke Jr. will be charged with attempted murder of a police officer, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and an outstanding domestic violence warrant.

Not sure what you expected man when you lied, disobeying and grabbed a gun and you cry when you get shot. Straight stupidity on his part.
Technically he didn't have talk at all because California isn't a stop and ID state but since he was on probation he would commit a violation by not providing his info. Being a passenger shouldn't make you automatically have to provide info. Since he was on paper people wont see the issue

I'm not liking them not restraining the woman or even searched her for weapons. If she had a gun the cops wouldn't have seen it coming. Don't assume weakness just because she's crying or seems physically not a threat. Doesn't take much to shoot a gun.
