Camden County, Georgia — On Monday, October 16th, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a Camden County Sheriff’s Office Deputy pulled over 53-year-old Leonard Cure as he drove along Interstate 95 near the Georgia-Florida line for speeding over 100 mph and Reckless Driving. The deputy immediately started yelling for him to get out of the truck. Cure gets out and said he wasn’t going to do anything. Cure asked if there was a warrant for his arrest. The deputy again tells him to put his hands behind his back or he will be tasered. He also tells Cure that he was being arrested for going over 100 mph and reckless driving. Cure gets tasered and while the deputy is asking him to put his hands behind his back, Cure starts swinging his arms and the two begin to fight.

Cure then appears to have one hand on either the deputy’s throat or his mouth and the other on his back. The deputy Tased Cure a second time and used a baton before pulling out the gun and firing one shot into Cure’s stomach. Cure hit the ground, and the deputy said “shots fired!” over the radio and called for more officers. At least a dozen paramedics and officers arrived on the highway shoulder within minutes. Several first responders gave Cure chest compressions for minutes before they loaded him into an ambulance. In 2020 Cure was released from a Florida prison after he was wrongfully convicted of armed robbery in 2004. He was sentenced to life in prison, but authorities reviewing his case in 2020 concluded he didn’t commit the crime. Cure was awarded $817,000 for his wrongful incarceration.

  1. Officer did everything he could. He fired the duty weapon as his last resort. I hope he knows there was nothing else he could do and is at peace with it.

  2. @ 3:51 he was shot. Was hard to hear because of traffic and he shot into Cure’s stomach. I had to rewind to even see this. This is how fast your life can change in 2 seconds. Looks like his time in prison taught him nothing at all. He also had a attitude and years of stupidity from being locked up. KUDOS to the officer and thank you from Florida, because now he will not return to this state.
NATURES WAY OF SELF CLEANSING WITH THE HELP OF CCSO.

  3. god damn what a pain in the ass. i would have just sat back in my patrol car and just waited for backup the minute i could determine the suspect was behaving erratic (by not pulling over correctly) but then of course the suspect is also a liability at that moment since he is likely to initiate a pursuit which puts others in danger so you just have to confront him. the whole thing is a giant pain in the ass. truly a mans job. doing the dirty work many of us cant!

  4. Why do CPR on mincemeat? He didn’t die because of a fucking MI he died from complications of severe trauma. No amount of CPR is getting that heart beating. These EMTs can’t be that stupid.

  5. Guy spent 16 years in prison ("wrongfully" or not no one will ever know), got out with 817.000$ and chose to die over a speeding and reckless driving violation.

  6. Ok so I understand why he was shot but in all due respect the cop hopped out of the car rude yelling, then he ordered him to put his hands on the car he did,but he got tased to me that was uncalled for. The deceased fought back because he felt like he got tased for no reason at all. But yea I get why he eventually shot him but if he had approached him more calmer I believe this could’ve went a different way meaning everybody walked away with their lives

  7. So was this the guy the news has been talking about for the past week? If so I see why he was shot, and it was justifiable.

  8. Justified, I don’t care if the dude was exonerated for a crime he didn’t commit, he committed multiple crimes right here. F around and find out. The local news is trying to say the officer should have tried to de-escalate the situation, he ran from the police, endangered peoples lives and appeared to be under the influence of something. Sad waste of $800k for 16 years.

  9. I read an article about this before this video was released.
I know this is shocking but the article made it seem like the deputy tazed him, beat him and shot him for merely getting out of his vehicle.
It's shocking,I know, that the media would be misleading

  10. I just read about this on CNN, and all of the people were saying this guy was double wronged. Did they want this video? terrible.

  11. This officer doesn't know how to react under pressure ,speeding is not the crime of the century .

  12. This is just another example of more human lives being taken by the very"Peace" officer's that should honor the oath to protect and serve. Instead they are given complete authority to conduct themselves in such an unprofessional and emotionally immature manner that only escalates matters leading to more death. If a "civil servant" cannot cope with the public they are entrusted to serve without losing control themselves, they have no business being given such power. For those that believe that this victims lack of "compliance" should lead to a death sentence being carried out by ONE person on a public highway, I'm almost certain the perspective would change if it was their loved family member who has already dealt with the same injustice.

  13. I saw on a news channel that they brought “ an expert “ to analyze the situation and she said the cop could have de escalated the situation , how do you de escalate a situation when someone is trying to snap ur head off your body ? The cop acted in self defense , I hope this serves a lesson to people to not attack the police , if you wanna fight law enforcement , you do it in court ⚖️

  14. That scumbag was likely very high on something. The Officer did a great job, he started with one of the least lethal and damaging options. When that clearly didn't work his life was in danger and he went to then next option the baton, which wasn't enough either. He then used his only option left his gun. This could have ended in such a worse way if he hadn't. That POS didn't even deserve first aid. The Officer did an excellent job, I'm sorry this is clearly weighing on him so heavily. It was awesome to see Brinks pull up and help.

  15. When tf does the gun go off? Did they remove the sound? Im so baffled i keep watching and both the dash and the body cam I hear nothing and see no muzzle flash.

  16. The family saw this and still thought that the officer used excessive force. Their attorney, the famous or infamous Ben Crum, is squawking about a lawsuit and how black and brown Americans have to be careful in dealing with LEO. How about not assaulting, resisting, choking, and flailing around like a headless chicken when being arrested.

  17. "Yo, I had a……motherfuckin' dream, man!"……….."Fuck was the dream about, G?"…………."I dreamed that I was…………..haaaaard."

  18. WOW! So much to unpack on this one! When the deputy calmed down, it hit him, and he started to cry, I wanted to cry with him! And I thanked GOD for that Brinks truck! My heart and prayers go out to the Camden County Deputy and Sheriff’s Dept as they support their colleague.

But, GREAT shot. Looks like he severed his spinal cord, ‘cause that POS needed to stay down! But, I had to Google this piece of crap…. Dude musta spent 16 years in the prison yard gym and didn’t learn a damned thing! From CNN: “He and his family deserved better,” the Innocence Project of Florida said in a statement. “Lenny’s life mattered.” And they went on to sing this MF’s praises about teaching the Innocence Project a thing or two. REALLY? What about this Deputy’s life? What a bunch of POSs! And ol’ Ben Crump (another POS) has jumped on this bandwagon… still chasing that rainmaker…. This one is cut AND DRIED OUT! I’d even go so far as to bet Yeo-wea had drugs on board…
