On March 18, 2017 King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter provided crucial air support Kent Police Department in their pursuit and eventual spike-strip (with Washington State Patrol support) of a stolen vehicle and its driver.

Watch as the pursuit unfolds and the eluding car strikes other vehicles, gets PIT-ed twice, and -ultimately – as the car thief ends up proned out on highway asphalt.

Are you an experienced investigative journalist with a strong network in law enforcement and a track record of successfully fighting for access to police records? We want you! Email a copy of your CV and links to your recent published work to jobs@realworldpolice.com. Full-time position, competitive pay.

Journalism’s landscape has radically changed. In late-2018 social media surpassed newspapers as a news source for U.S. adults, and a Pew Research Center survey released in early October found that more than half of U.S. adults get news from social media. Real World Police’s reach far exceeds that of the Boston Globe and our average daily viewership is on par with the circulation of The New York Times. Join us!

  1. God, what's it gotta be like to be crusin around in your stealy wheely automobiley, peepin the reary for the five oh, not seeing ANYTHING for miles, and all of a sudden up ahead copper stopper on the left and POPOP POPOP

  2. do these fucktards that steal cars ever notice the chopper in the sky? and what was the point of these people stealing this car? joy riding? they werent going anywhere..
and what does "SLAVE ACTIVE" mean? lol (bottom right)

  3. I personally think that if a helicopter was used to capture a suspected criminal then they should have to pay for the fuel as well as their fines. lol

  4. 3:30 Is he really "driving recklessly" though? I mean, he's slowing down at intersections and moving safely around traffic. He might breaking laws but I wouldn't say it's "reckless". When he said "he just barely missed a pedestrian", he makes it sound like he almost hit the guy when in fact he was cautiously going around him and wasn't going to hit him at all. So when he faces court, it will be as if they could possibly charge him with attempted manslaughter or some type of felony reckless endangerment when all he was doing was running lights and improper lane usage. I don't know, I'm sure a case could be made for the opposite.

  5. Imagine if we had signs put up along the highway so when this happens we can let the drivers know so they can get out of the way and make it easier for the police to stop them.

  6. The only chance you have to get away from a chopper is to go somewhere crowded and try to get lost in the crowd. Somewhere like the mall would be a good option. Go into the mall, buy a change of clothes, exit inconspicuously.

  7. When idiots run from the police it seems like a sniper in the helicopter would be the safest and most effective way to stop the threat.

  8. I'm sure the owner of the car appreciated his car being beat to death by the police and the destroyed tires. Then they impound it and collect fees from that.
