LODI, Calif. – A Lodi California police officer is seen pulling a man off of railroad tracks seconds before a train is seen approaching and ultimately slamming into the mans disabled wheelchair.

According to Lodi Police, on Wednesday 08-12-20, Officer Urrea was on patrol near the railroad tracks when she noticed a man in a wheelchair who appeared to be stuck on the tracks. She also noticed that the railroad crossing arms started to come down and realized a train was fastly approaching.

The train is seen hitting the wheelchair at full speed and it throws the man and Officer Urrea back away from the trains path. Police said the man suffered a leg injury from the train impact and it that was tended to immediately by another responding officer who arrived on the scene. The 66-year-old male was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The Lodi Police Department said in a statement, “Officer Urrea risked her own life to save another, and her actions prevented a tragedy today. We are extremely proud of Officer Erika Urrea and her heroism.”

  1. This is why women should not be in combat. They don’t have the muscles to drag dead weight easily. At least she was able to knock him over.

  2. She is a hero! BUT I wonder if the man purposely left himself on the tracks to die since there isn’t any REAL right to die laws in the United States. So many decent people have to resort to brutal ways to end their lives WHEN THEY WISH TO because this country likes to watch people suffer, lose dignity, and grab as much money from them as they can.

  3. What a heroic officer. I use a power wheelchair & would have died had I been stuck on RR tracks. This officer deserves a medal 🎖and thanks from all of us disabled citizens.

  4. I cannot even imagine how scared that poor man was literally hearing that train coming to kill him and he was saved just as he thought he was going to die. The cop was heroic 💪🏼

  5. Hero for saving his life yes. But this is a perfect reason women are not the same as man, if it was a male officer he would not have struggle in removing the elderly man from the track .

  6. Everyone says the cops never do anything good. Officer Urrea showed heroism and courage in the true face of danger. Lets give credit where its due…….

  7. THIS is where one of those "HERO'SWORK HERE" signs is appropriate! Not all the other places that they're popping up where people are just doing their normal jobs. HUGE KUDOS to the officer!!!! Thank you
