Buffalo, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department released body camera footage of a shooting and a pursuit after two Buffalo Police Officers were fired upon at nearly point-blank range while they were in their patrol car. Police said just after 7 p.m. on June 17, two officers on patrol came across a shooting on Sears Street and Broadway. 63-year-old Atlas Johnson was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene the shooting suspect, identified as 27-year-old Nakeem Haynes, allegedly jumped onto the hood of the police car and fired a shot through the windshield then ran. That round ended up striking the gun holster of officer Jake Michienzi. The officers then chased Haynes for several blocks to Kent Street, where they came under fire again. The body camera footage shows two officers firing 13 rounds, eight of which struck Haynes, to whom they then began to render first aid after kicking away a gun laying next to his body.

Haynes was transported to ECMC where he remains hospitalized with various physical injuries. Additional charges may be filed as the homicide and the officer-involved shooting remains under investigation. Haynes is scheduled to return on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail. If convicted of the charge, Haynes faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

  1. I can’t fathom strolling up to an active shooting in sandals yelling, “get water and a towel”

Some of these communities are just straight up lost in the sauce, this is bananas lol.

  2. Just another day in a democrat controlled crap hole city Yo. Hopefully he will be back on da streets soon helping set record crime rates and murders. Good times.

  3. I love the sound of screaming women when one of these “good boys” gets gunned down. Too bad he didn’t take the asphalt temperature challenge

  4. The women said, " Get water and a towel". A different and far more pleasant reaction than the typical screaming woman. Silly me, there was a screaming woman at 2:58.

  5. Very professional… All that adrenaline surging from the foot chase and they were still focused and collected. Well done.

  6. Another model citizen who belongs under ground instead of wasting tax payer money for the rest of his miserable and useless life.

  7. The fact that people will blindly support someone who just murdered a human being in cold blood is astonishing to me. The fact that the cops immediately rendered aid is not

  8. They should keep firing and not stop if only to stop us from being able to hear the screeching that always follows justified shootings in the background.

  9. Buffalo is a total shit hole, just like all the cities in NY. I live 20 miles outside of Sewercuse(Syracuse). Can't wait to move out of this shit hole state.

  10. Police should curtail patrols and slow their responses to hostile neighborhoods: they are not wanted there so should grant the community's wish. They serve the people after all.

  11. Shoot That Shit Again.. Those White Shoes are Probably Stolen–
    Let that minority Shit Bleed-Out–

Wait 20 more minutes before calling rescue..

Tonight, we celebrate along with few neighbors with cold beer, soda and chips!

    Our Respects to Police-Kudos-Thanks-Good Work!

The More We Remove This Waste-The Better Our Communities May Be Safe Once Again..

We Celebrate Along With Police here at our home! ( whos next )? lol –keep up the Great Work..
