  1. This is why I don't drive drowsy anymore. I woke up in my driveway after a graveyard shift with no recollection of half the drive home.

  2. I go on patrol at 1600 and am off at 02. I can’t tell you how many times in my thirty minute drive that I have realized that I’m home and don’t have any recollection of anything after leaving the station.

  3. As a kid 40 years ago I sadly watched as a dazed driver in front of me went through a red light and right into an unsuspecting vehicle. Watching the victim in that vehicle get hit so hard that he went into shock was a sobering event. Really opened my eyes to being a responsible driver the rest of my life. 40 years later, not one accident or even a speeding ticket.

  4. Even worse is in my younger years I would test my fate & drive home from the bar when even I knew I shouldn’t. Luckily I grew up & didn’t kill anyone in the process. Waking up, still technically drunk, looking out & seeing your car in the drive way with not a clue how it got there, is terrifying!

  5. Go into the checklist:
-Is there anything/anyone stuck to the front bumper?
-Is the electrical messed up and do I feel like I might have been probed?
