Denver, Colorado — On Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at about 4:12 a.m., a uniform Denver Police officer was conducting, directed patrol at the Quality Inn in the 2600 block of North Zuni Street, at Speer Boulevard. The officer was seated in the driver seat of his marked police vehicle, directly in front of the entrance of the hotel. The officer had been at the location for several minutes, when a male exited the front doors of the hotel and walked directly towards the officer’s vehicle, suddenly without warning or prior interaction. The male was identified as, 35-year-old Nicholas Lendrum. Lendrum produced a firearm from his jacket and began firing directly at the officer, to the passenger side of the vehicle, striking the officer multiple times.

The officer immediately exited his vehicle and moved to the back of the patrol car. Lendrum went around the front of the officer’s vehicle and continued firing upon the officer while attempting to use his police vehicle as cover. The officer returned fire, striking Lendrum multiple times. The injured officer called for additional assistance from other officers, as well as ambulances to respond to the location. Responding officers took Lendrum into custody. He was promptly assessed by a paramedic crew and transported to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Additional officers attended to the injured officer and promptly loaded him into a police vehicle and transported him to the hospital for assistance. He has since been released from the hospital.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Lendrum drove to the location and parked on the West side of the building at 4:02 a.m. he remained near his vehicle for several minutes before walking around the building. He went in front of the officer’s vehicle and directly into the hotel. At that point, there was no interaction between the officer and Lendrum. While inside the hotel, Lendrum inquired about renting a room, from the clerk before determining the cost was too high for him. He walked out of the hotel through the same main doors, where the officer was previously parked and approached the officer’s vehicle, discharging his firearm multiple times.

Investigators determined Lendrum fired 18 rounds from a Glock 26 9mm handgun. Lendrum had an additional magazine which was holding 16 rounds. Lendrum was also found to be in possession of a loaded 38 caliber revolver, which was not fired during the incident. The involved officer discharged 17 rounds from his duty handgun at towards the suspect. The injured Denver Police officer, was wearing a ballistic vest. The officer was struck by 3 of the rounds that were fired by Lendrum. All 3 impacted the officer’s ballistic bulletproof vest. While the rounds we’re stopped by the officer’s vest, he experienced significant bruising and pain at the impact sites from the rounds that were fired. He has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover.

  1. I feel that at this day and age, we need to start giving cops armored patrol cars. But it needs funding. Which for some reason the public goes against funding police…

  2. I couldn’t wait to read how bad the officer was hit and first I thought he died, but I was happy to find out they talked about the other and that the officer is going to be ok

  3. Outstanding work by everyone. Phenomenal work from the dispatcher also. I have been a 911/ems/police dispatcher for 19 years and have been involved in 3 different police shootings in my career. It is absolute insanity. Everyone here stayed calm, cool, collected, and most importantly, KEPT THE AIR CLEAR. Great job.

  4. Is not the craziest thing ever, the pig got shot first and multiple times, yet he lived and the hero dies. 🖕the police

  5. WOW! That is good to hear not only that there is one less evil person in the world but most important is that the officer had his vest on and survived the unprovoked attack.

  6. In my 54 years of life, never in all my time have I witnessed such visceral emotion for law enforcement, and I blame each and every souled out politicians and the media who is the enemy of the people, for not only creating, but actively driving this overt and radical hatred of law enforcement officers, that sees them coming under deadly fire for nothing more than sitting in a squad car. The blood of every ambushed officer is all over their hands.

  7. I bet that Cop makes even Chuck Norris Look under his bed at night .Anyone that's ever worn body armor will tell you how much they hate it and can't take it off fast enough. Plate armor is just torturer. But it's worth it. Theses days most Police officers ware Level lV soft Armor. It's rated to stop a 30.06 Armor piercing. It lives up to that claim. The only problem is the you still take that force and with the backside deformation you can count on broken Ribs and a burse that is just Unholy .. It seems the soft Body Armor has come a long way..

  8. The suspect fires at least 7 rounds through the window, 3 of them before the officer could start getting out the door, one of them just as the officer starts to move his hand away from his face and toward the door handle.
Even so, that was impressively fast reaction from the officer.

  9. Hard to feel sorry for cops now days from these liberal counties when you see what they do to innocent people.
I think all the good cops moved on when the counties got woke so… Won't feel bad unless I find out otherwise!

  10. This is a perfect example of what the differences between a trained officer and a random thug are. Despite being shot multiple times, the officer remained in the fight and the thug ended up in a forever box.

  11. Holy shit that went from 0-100 in less than a second. Hope the Officer makes a full recovery, and I also hope the shit head felt every round make impact.

  12. Imagine losing an ambush against a completely unaware target, and they survive without serious injury.

Happy the officer is alive, but seriously, what idiot aims a pistol at a cops chest, anyway?

  13. Thank you Denver Police Officer for your service and I am glad to see you were not severely injured or worse.

  14. Bruh smh the fact he was able to get shot, recognize what was going on, return fire, move and utilize the concealment of his patrol car, AND put effective neutralizing shots on target, AND call in for help, AND relay accurate information to dispatch and other officers…… man oh man dude is literally a one man army bruh. 🫡🇺🇸

  15. Officer I cannot tell you how much I am pleased that the vest kept you alive. I also use admit being very satisfied to read that you terminated the perpetrator so he will not be a threat to others in the future. Great job officer keeping your whits about you to get the job done.
