Chicago, Illinois — On August 11, 2023, around 5:30 p.m. two on-duty Chicago police officers in a marked police vehicle observed a confrontation between two individuals near 1100 W. 111th Street. The officers reportedly observed 36-year-old Louis C. Gordon-Hay with a gun in his back pocket. When the officers engaged, Gordon-Hay fled, and officers pursued him into a residence. Inside the residence, officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon, as they struggled over the Gordon-Hay’s firearm. Gordon-Hay and one of the officers both discharged their weapons, at which time Gordon-Hay was struck and transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A gun was recovered on scene. After the shooting, the partner of the officer who fired the shot can be seen running out to their squad car to retrieve what appears to be a first aid kit, before going back inside the house. He later also can be heard struggling to breathe, as other officers tell him to take deep breaths, before offering to drive him to the hospital to get checked out. No officers were wounded in the shooting, but police reports two officers suffered bruises and abrasions from the struggle, and police have said two officers were taken to the hospital for observation. Both officers involved in the shooting were placed on 30 days of administrative duty after the shooting.

  1. Why do fire always show up for everything in America?!…aint they got enough to do putting out fires and cutting people out of cars!

  2. I hope that the officer involved in this incident will realize that that you cannot save them all and that some people truly don't want to be saved.

  3. His fellow officers pressuring him to go to the hospital wasn't helpful mentally. Dude needed someone to talk to (a hug too), not a fecking doctor.

  4. THAT PERSON WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT PUTTING A BULLET IN YOU OFFICER,TAKE SOME TIME AND APPRECIATE YOU ARE STILL HERE FOR YOUR FAMILY! THANK YOU FOR SERVING THE COMMUNITY!

  5. These are the types of cops we need… He didn't wanna shoot em n you can tell he actually gives a shit about the ppl

  6. Instead of mag dumping him bro put his gun down and tried taking suspects gun away giving suspect a chance. Very nice officers yet very risky

  7. Can somebody trade lease help me with something??? Who is the guy that they have blurred out? Is that a friend or family member of the guy that was shot? There’s no mention of him in the write up.

  8. I’m confused by the description and the video.

It’s says the suspect and an officer fired their weapons. I assume the officer who got the medkit was the one who shot the suspect; but his gun was laying on the ground when both shots were fired.

  9. Bro the cop said I got hit😂😂😂😂 then 10:32 u da police😂😂😂😂 man dat shit got me dead affffffff 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  10. … my eyes filled with tears when I saw the Officer break down. As a human being he was horrified about what happened. His humanity took over, this tore up his soul. The crap Police are exposed to is horrendous.

  11. This made me tear up..The officer was trying to save the guys life..nothing but respect for people who take their job seriously & want to make a difference..coming from a guy who's had bad experiences with cpd..

  12. Brother this is what happens when you are a pillar to your community sometimes we have to get rid of evil man , it's sad men you don't want to hurt anyone but sometimes ppl want to be hurt SMH, I hope this officer is alright! Seems like a genuine person

  13. In my small town law enforement are a plus yet they are hated by those who willfully and intentionally violate the rights of others..

  14. Ok I'm not trying to be funny, but someone in the background said "Let the gun go! Before they kill yo ass!" Legit sound like Samuel Jackson.

  15. Most of those officers are either desensitized or either traumatized in some facet, they have a job that requires use of deadly force or simply encountering someone willing to use it on them or themselves. As a whole from the justice system to the medical system down to the 911 calls all are alike psychologically to suffer these experiences that may end deadly or fatally. The most important thing is seeking counseling to learn to cope with this change and survival. Most precincts and even medical professionals lack with seeking their own therapy and counseling just go to work normalizing this stuff and believe me I know because I am one of them just coming into this traumatizing frenzy and the things I hear come out of people’s mouths are sad. Everyone uses coping mechanisms just normalizing this, when it’s not normal and never will be! It’s clear how they handled this, after this on the scene they should also have a psychologist to arrive and escort whomsoever off the scene and immediately have them on leave to get psychologically evaluated and through some counseling courses to better help them cope with seeing death like this but that’s just my take!

  16. i’ve been watching this channel for years and i don’t think i’ve ever had a video physically affect me like this one. i know it might sound ridiculous but i felt that reaction so much i began to panic and breathe heavy at the same time as he was and i’m watching this through a screen from the comfort and safety of my bedroom, i can’t even imagine how he felt actually being there and going through it. what that officer experienced is something that will stick with me every day for a long time.
