A Mt. Juliet Police dashcam caught a high speed chase on camera. The words “just married” were written on the back of the SUV, but it was unclear if the driver was running away from a new marriage.

An officer headed to work noticed the Chevy Equinox swerving on I-40, and tried to stop the driver, but the man behind the wheel turned toward the patrol car just narrowly missing it.

The driver, 27-year-old Michael Smith, continued to speed off, and didn’t stop even when crashing into guard rails and a concrete barrier.

He finally slowed down and stopped in a restaurant parking lot.

Smith was arrested and charged with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.
