Compton, California — On November 3, 2022, at approximately 12:13 PM, deputies assigned to Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to the 2100 block of South Santa Fe Avenue regarding a call of a person wielding an axe. The informant indicated a Hispanic male was in the business swinging an axe attempting to harm patrons. Further information on the call indicated the suspect was last seen walking north from the business with the axe still in his hand. The male was later identified as 46-year-old Ramiro Lozano. As deputies were searching the area for Lozano, he walked west on Artesia Boulevard to Alameda Street and ran north along the riverbed toward the Compton Towne Center Plaza.

Lozano entered the Compton Towne Center Plaza and continued running along the southside of one of the businesses with the hatchet, previously described as an axe, in hand. The deputies followed Lozano in their patrol vehicles toward the front entrance of the business where a patron was exiting the front door. One of the pursuing deputies exited his patrol vehicle and ordered Lozano to stop. Lozano did not comply, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Lozano sustained gunshot wounds to his torso. Deputies rendered first aid to Lozano until the arrival of the Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. There were no other persons injured in the incident. The hatchet was recovered at the scene.

  1. Good job shooting him and not waiting for him to get to an innocent like with the other situation where an innocent elderly lady got stabbed.

  2. Boy, I knew the LA county vids would increase now that they are standardizing bodycams (finally) but wow…. they are a damn busy agency…..

  3. my coworker didn't know about the axe and lost her shite 🙂 I waiting a little while and enjoyed her passion before I told her

  4. Perfect example of the Tennessee Vs Garner fleeing felon rule! The subject was danger to others and most likely would have chopped someone up….But this is California they will find a reason to screw over the cops!

  5. 82 second video and only 18 seconds of bodycam footage….No popcorn necessary! The only thing a little disturbing is, I wonder how aware the officer actually was concerning the civilians in the background?

  6. All incidents with hatchets end in a shooting, they should just have hatchet enforcement without firearms duh…..so they can be given citation and not have to worry about the enforcement official being able to defend themselves from having their head split 🪓

  7. This channel should just change its name to snuff lovers. The absolute moronic comments here are grounds for it to be shut down and moved to the dark web. So glad it’s been demonetized. Very little if any actual police activity education taking place here

  8. At first I thought it was a bad call but then I saw the civilian walking by, good job officer.
