Los Angeles, California — On April 24th, 2021 around 2:35 p.m., LAPD Hollywood Patrol Division officers were westbound on Sunset Boulevard responding to a radio call with the lights and siren of their police vehicle activated. As they approached Fairfax Avenue, they moved into the left turn lane. A 2012 Hyundai Sonata pulled in front of them and stopped. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 34-year-old Richard Solitro, drove in reverse and struck the front of the police vehicle.

Solitro exited his vehicle, wearing body armor and concealing his right hand in the small of his back. After counting to three, Solitro removed his right hand from behind his back and raised it in the direction of the officers, resulting in an OIS. Solitro was struck by gunfire. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and determined Solitro deceased at the scene. There was no weapon found in the vicinity of Solitro. No officers were injured during the incident.

  1. CNN: Concerned citizen trying to give the police narcotics found in the street horrendously shot on a countdown of reveal. oh wait… wont make the news.

  2. Новый биток в Украину с аукциона поедет.
    Минимальные повреждения, маленький пробег.

  3. After looking for anyone with the last name solitro on Facebook.. I only found a Richard Soltero. Which based on the posts looks like was suicidal. Maybe the same person.

  4. This is actually pretty sad. If you Google him, he was clearly your every day guy in serious need of help. The police did what they had to do, but it's scary what mental health issues can do

  5. I feel bad for these officers that they had to shoot. He pulled his hands out so fast that these Officers couldn't have known if it was a gun or a piece of paper. It's clearly obvious this dude intentionally hit them, so he's not very innocent. Looks like his intention was to get himself shot. I think these Officers did the right thing.
