LAPD Patrol Car Collides With Civilian Vehicle During Code-3 Response – Everything Law and Order Blog

Los Angeles, California — On June 23, 2024, at around 5:55 p.m., Los Angeles Police Officers responded to a radio call of a male armed with a knife in the area of Adams Boulevard and Saint James Place. When the officers arrived to the area of the call, they determined that immediate assistance was required, prompting a “help call” to detain the armed suspect. While responding to this help call with lights and sirens activated (Code-3), a patrol unit was involved in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Gramercy Place.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver of the Corolla, to a local hospital to be treated for the critical injuries he sustained, as a result of the traffic crash. While there, medical staff placed him in a medically induced coma and he’s expected to survive. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Regino Orea Jr.. The officers involved in the crash also sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released.

  2. It always blows my fucking mind when I see people not pulling over for police. I cannot think of a single incident where I did not see the lights/hear the sirens way beforehand even with cops in high speed chases. People just are so distracted while driving nowadays and want to shift blame.

  3. Driver was probably high or just didn’t give a F (like most drivers when they hear sirens) 1) attempt to track EMS vehicle direction 2) slow down 3) always move to right “if possible”

  4. Accident really couldn't have been prevented, with the officer vehicle going that fast and the civilian car turning and that time the only thing that could've happened was the officer swerving
