Officer Emelia Santos – Fort Myers Police Department
Officer Santos notices a vehicle driving with an obscured license plate. She conducts a traffic stop and notices both the driver and passenger are extremely nervous. While Officer Santos is speaking with her backup Officer, the passenger in the vehicle jumps out of the car and takes off running. A third backup Officer attempts to tackle the suspect but is unsuccessful. The Officers chase the suspect around the corner where he then throws out a gun and a bag of drugs. The suspect is apprehended after trying to hide in the bushes. Officer Santos recovers the loaded gun and bag of drugs which end up being positive for crack cocaine and heroin.
